Super 60 Recap: RHP TJ Zeuch (Mason HS)

Heading into his first Super 60 experience, Pittsburgh recruit TJ Zeuch had two specific expectations.
“Lots of MLB scouts and there were tons!” he stated.
Second, and just as important, he continued, “I wanted to throw a consistent 90 mph fastball complimented by three off-speed pitches for strikes.”
When it was all said and done, the 6-foot-7, 220-pound right-hander from Mason High School found both of his expectations met.
Using an 87-91 mph fastball, Zeuch showed off the same skill set and projectability that made him one of the Midwest’s most coveted recruits this summer.
He showed off his full arsenal of pitches, which also includes two breaking balls and a changeup. His curveball, which sat at 69-70 mph, was softer with more gradual break while his slider showed more late breaking action at 77-80 mph. He also showed command of a 73-75 mph changeup.
Reflecting on the atmosphere of the event, he said, “I would say it was like an All-Star game … everyone there was very good, so everyone seemed on edge to show their stuff.”
In particular, Zeuch liked the selectivity of the event and the limited number of players able to participate.
“The fact that it’s a small group (60-70 players) who are all stellar baseball players means that more scouts can see everyone.”
He continued, “As a player, you get more exposure, so if you are invited, it’s a no-brainer. Go!”
This spring, Zeuch will likely see his fair share of MLB scouts when he takes the mound for Mason High School, a pre-season favorite to win the Division I State Championship. The Mason squad also features senior right-handed pitcher Andrew McDonald (Virginia Tech recruit), senior shortstop Connor McVey (Cincinnati recruit), senior right-handed pitcher Seth Bowles (Ohio Dominican recruit) and one of Ohio's top junior pitchers, Chris Martin.
