Tuslaw '14 OF Ben Wake Offers Size and Speed

Ben Wake is a new name to add to the list of talented unsigned seniors still exploring the recruiting process.

The Tuslaw High School product made his first appearance at a PBR event at the Fall Unsigned Senior Games and stood out as one of the athletes in attendance.

At 6-foot-5, 170-pounds, Wake is full of potential and intrigue.

With a 6.65 60 on the books and a 4.28 down the line in game play, Wake shows exceptional speed. In field, he showed good carry to his throws along with a top velocity of 89 mph. And, at the plate, he showed some quickness in his swing and more than enough to work with at the next level.

With his recruitment beginning to drum up, Wake expresses initial interest in a handful of Division I programs such as Akron, Kent, Bowling Green, and Ohio.

In particular, he spoke about Kent and Akron.

“What I like about both of these schools is how close they are to where I live and also the school itself and the programs they offer. I'm looking to go to school for engineering,” he said.

However, he is exploring all levels of play as he plans to take a visit to Ohio Northern.

At the end of the day, the 3.1 student noted, “My goal as a player is to find a school that fits me both as a student and as an athlete.”
