Landon Willeman RHP / 3B / Napoleon, OH / 2020

NAPOLEON - Landon Willeman sums it up quite simply.

“I’m a kid that loves to play baseball and loves to work hard,” the 2020 Napoleon graduate said. “You’ll get the best out of me every day.”

That was what Bowling Green expected from the 6-0 165-pound right-handed pitcher.

However, when the Mid-American Conference school eliminated the baseball program in April, Willeman became the ninth-ranked uncommitted player in Ohio’s senior class.

“I learned not to take anything for granted,” Willeman said of the ordeal, which comes on top of missing out on his final year of high school baseball because of COVID-19. “Go live day-by-day. Do everything the way you want to do it and don’t hold anything back.”

The 78th-rated 2020 in the state is now busy figuring out where his immediate future will take him.

“Obviously, I want to go D-I but I’m keeping all my options open right now,” explained Willeman, who has no plans of revisiting any of the schools he talked with prior to his commitment to Bowling Green, which took place a year ago. “I’m looking at some JUCO schools that would probably be a good fit.”
