2024 Future Games: Canada Quick Hits
July 24, 2024
The 2024 Future Games got underway on Wednesday at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia as 12 Canadian positional players took the field in front of 300+ Division I coaches for a pro-style workout. The talented group comprised of 2026's (one 2027) generated quite the buzz throughout their batting practice, catching plenty of love from our national scouting staff and college coaches alike.
It's a loaded roster on the positonal side and the Canadians have the arms to match. Gameplay gets underway tomorrow under the lights as Canada takes on the Midwest at 8:45PM along with a game Friday and Saturday. Stay locked into our socials all week long for full coverage of the Future Games, the Senior Future Games and the Junior Future Games.

‘26 C Taye Thierman (Okotoks Dawgs): Thierman’s left-handed swing was on full display during the workout at the Future Games. It’s smooth, showing advanced feel for the barrel with the ability to stay on time. There was consistent elevation to his pull-side reaching a max exit velocity of 98 mph. At 6-foot-3, 185-pounds the frame stands out both in the box and behind the dish. The left-handed hitting catcher will be one of the top position players to follow this week.

‘26 INF Easton Kitura (Vauxhall Academy): Kitura has been a standout all year and that continued during the workout at the Future Games. There’s plenty to like, with lots of upside in his 6-foot-0, 180-pound frame. There’s present bat to ball with power potential as he continues to fill out. He elevated to his pull-side with consistent hard contact reaching a max exit velocity of 91 mph. As one of the top bats in the country, he’ll be a high follow as we head into game play at the Future Games.

Easy mover w/ plenty of room to fill out his frame.
Feel for the barrel with power upside.@EastonKitura || #PBFG24 pic.twitter.com/e8ZlR5u3Lk
‘26 INF/RHP Cohen Miller (Webber Academy): With one of the more consistent rounds of BP on the day, Miller opened some eyes during the workout. With plenty of athleticism, there’s feel for the barrel in his balanced, simple approach. Working to his pull-side, he showed the ability to elevate with authority reaching a max exit velocity of 92 mph. He moved well on the infield showing off his arm in the process. As one of the top two-ways in Canada, standing at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, his upside on the mound will be something to keep an eye out for as well.

‘26 INF Jalen Jacob (Ontario Blue Jays): Canada’s lone nationally-ranked 2027, and only 2027 on the Future Games team took the stage and did not look out of place. The uber physical LHH stands at 6-foot-1, 240-pounds and is still just 14 years old. He worked gap-to-gap during his round, consistently elevating the ball with a peak exit velocity of 99.2mph with plenty of balls hit to the warning track. He continues to add to a strong reputation with a good start to the Future Games, a 2027 to keep tabs on throughout the week.

🇨🇦’s lone 2027 at the #PBFG24 and he didn’t look out of place.
Physically mature for age & drove baseballs on a line to all parts of the field.
Impact bat to follow in Canada.

‘26 SS Luke Laird (Langley Blaze): One of Canada’s top 2026’s in attendance with us and did not disappoint. Standing at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds Laird has tons of twitch in his game with good bat-to-ball. During his round he worked to the big part of the field with a peak exit velocity of 92.7mph. Another strong follow on the Canadian Future Games team over the next week.

‘26 SS Elliot Lascelles (Toronto Mets): Lascelles showed well through the Winter circuit, in-season play and continued to show well during the workout day. Started off the day running a 6.68 60 yard, then put together a strong round of BP consistently being on the barrel. An athletic LHH standing at 6-foot, 170lbs who works out of a narrow base with simple mechanics and lives on a line to the big part of the field. An interesting 2026 who will be one to keep tabs on as we proceed with gameplay here at Lakepoint.

‘26 INF Robert Omidi (Fieldhouse Pirates): Omidi was a standout last year as an underager at Future Games and has only continued to improve. Has added strength and it shows at the plate. It’s a low effort swing combined with electric hand speed through the zone. Baseballs were jumping off his bat and he consistently found barrels. Topped at a high of 101.9mph EV and hit 4 balls over 100mph, A big time bat in the 2026 class who is a must follow leading into the rest of this week. Expect Robert to be a big attraction come August 1st.
