Mizuno Prospect of the Week: Sam White

Sam White SS / C / Aurora, ON / 2022

Report: We’ve known about Sam White for a while now, and one thing has remained true since his days at the Junior Future Games - he hits. Everywhere he’s been, White puts together competitive at-bats. He’s a stocky 5-11, 190, but he shows athletic movements, and he can swing it from the left side. Right now he's a left-side infielder, and there’s some arm strength at 87 across the diamond that could keep him there, but it was a good sign seeing him behind the plate in August.

Future: Offensively he performs, but he’s not at his peak just yet as we beleive there is more to come. There's still some stiffness on the follow through of his swing, and obviously he’s got some work to do behind the plate being new to the position. But as rigid as it is, the ball has life out of his hand, he shows some feel, and it’ll be exciting to see how he grows over the next year behind the dish. At this point all he needs is reps, and he has a chance to make some noise in a strong 2022 catching class.
