Ontario Insider: Uncommitted Underclass Spotlight - Ryan Kula, SS
Name: Ryan Kula
Position: Shortstop

Height/Weight: 6-foot, 175-pounds
Club Team: Ontario Blue Jays
Scouting Report: Kula sports an average, well proportioned frame at 6-foot, 175-pounds with room for added strength gains and development. Kula has played all three infield positions excluding first base and has shown well at all three. He plays an aggressive style defensively, attacking balls and not sitting back, using good body control to make throws on the run. The hands work well to go along with the feet, very confident on the backhand and the release and transfer is quick. Feet move well and he keeps them underneath him while he throws the ball, arm has carry and can play from the left side of the infield. At the plate, Kula seems to have a knack for hitting and you can tell that the hand eye coordination is there. Very quiet setup with small stride and load, stays balanced with minimal head movement. At his best when he gets extended and stays through the middle of the diamond, gap to gap power right now and can spray the ball left to right. Chance to gain more power with strength gains but projects to be line drive guy who will rack up the extra base hits and put together quality at-bats, limiting his strikeouts while putting the ball in play.
