Scouting Report

Background: Jackson, an infielder for the Great Lake Canadians, is a lean, slim-framed, athletic player with ability on both sides. Defensively, his glove actions work well to the backhand and forehand; his hands are soft moving through the baseball with a clean glove-to-hand transfer. He demonstrates a good first step, allowing him to cover ground with the footwork needed to make plays from different positions. His arm strength will continue to improve as he adds strength to his frame. Offensively, Jackson is a selective hitter but often looks to hit early in the count. He works short, and quick through the zone with a flat plane. He covers the strike zone, showing the ability to stay through pitches away, and turn on pitches in, although cutting his swing off at times. A line-drive hitter with the potential to add some power to his game down the road.

Outlook: Jackson will stick on the dirt at the next level, he has spent time at both shortstop and second base, either spot should be a good option down the road. His awareness and consistency allow for his defensive tools to play up. The makings of being a good hitter at the next level are evident. The hands enable the bat to work with quickness; he has a quality and consistent approach and the athleticism needed to continue to develop offensively. He has run a 4.53 down the line with minimal effort and will improve in that area in the future. Jackson has a solid overall toolset and should be a marquee player in the 2021 class.
