Uncommitted Spotlight: Nyles Duren

Nyles Duren SS / 2B / Vincent Massey, ON / 2019

Background: At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, Duren is a presence at shortstop for the Windsor Selects. He features a thick lower half with strength and athleticism throughout, allowing for him to generate velocity and power. Duren is not flashy or overly quick as he’s been up to 7.06 running the 60 yard dash, but he displays some actions and the ability to throw from multiple arm slots with strength. At the plate, Duren has made drastic strides since the start of the new year for the better. He now stays back and balanced, before loading with a leg kick and then coming forward. He shows bat speed with a proper path towards the baseball, although at times there is inconsistency with pitches around the outer half as he's caught reaching and his swing isn't as smooth. But, when the ball is left up, Duren is able to drive the baseball for power, as his large frame works together more fluidly. Duren is also a forward in basketball.
