Corner Infielders Analysis: Week 2 of Fall College Prospect Program

The 2nd weekend of the Fall College Prospect Program had a strong core of corner infielders that showcased their talents at Temple University (8/24) and at Widener University (8/25). Following is a breakdown of the prospects that participated at 3B and 1B.

Corner Infielders:  Week #2

1B/OF Kevin Barron, Hatboro-Horsham HS, Class of 2015

The member of Team PA at the 2013 Midwest Future Games showed agility and a 76 mph arm across the diamond from 1B. Barron showcased power potential out of a slightly open stance with solid extension to his swing during batting practice. The right-handed hitter uses an explosive lower half to create barrel whip and a bat exit velocity of 88 mph. He went 2-for-8 at the plate in game action, including a two-run home run at Temple University.

1B Zach Craven, McKeesport HS, Class of 2014

Craven is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect that has a soft glove hand and moves well around the bag at 1B. He plays the game the right way and has a high energy motor. Craven showcased an 82 mph bat exit velocity and some pop to the opposite field gap. The right-handed hitter has shown the ability to use all fields and the potential to be a run producer at the next level.

3B/RHP Nicky D'Amore, Neumann-Goretti HS, Class of 2016

D'Amore showed well in all facets of the game, solidifying his spot as the No. 11 ranked prospect in the Class of 2016. The right handed hitter utilizes a square stance and has good rhythm to his swing. He barreled everything in batting practice and showcased the ability to use all fields. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect also displayed athletic actions and the ability to make plays on the move at 3B with an 82 mph arm across the diamond.

3B/SS Nick Patten, Butler Area HS, Class of 2015

Patten is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect with a lot of potential. He showcased good feet and good carry on throws of 82 mph across the diamond. The right-handed hitter showcased a flat bat path and the ability to use all fields in a solid round of batting practice. Patten went 1-for-3 in game action with a double at Temple University and turned in a solid bat exit velocity of 84 mph.

C/3B Alex Salesky, Wilson HS, Class of 2014

The left-handed hitter battled through a pulled muscle to go 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly over two days of game action. Salesky utilizes a square stance and good rhythm to his swing to produce a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect showed athletic actions in the infield and good carry on throws of 79 mph across the diamond.
