Valentine limited the potent Friars' offense to just four hits while striking out nine. Malvern got to Valentine for four runs in the later innings, but not before the Fords had built a comfortable 5-0 lead through four.

Valentine led the Fords' offense on the afternoon as well going 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. Kevin McGowan was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and Connor Burke had a double to go along with two RBI. Brian Giacchino had a triple and two RBI to lead the Friars' four-hit attack.

The Fords did most of their damage against Malvern Prep starter Billy Ford, a West Chester recruit. Ford yielded eight hits and five earned runs while striking out six over five innings.
