Brady LloydIn a match-up of two teams listed among the contenders in the PBR Pennsylvania PIAA Class AAA Super 16 this week, Mifflinburg got a complete game shutout from Dillan Weikel and just enough production from the top of their order to win a solidly played 1-0 affair yesterday. Selinsgrove junior righty Tyler Showers was the hard luck loser going six innings while allowing just four hits.

The scoring began and ended with Mifflinburg scoring in the bottom of the opening frame. East Carolina recruit Brady Lloyd (right) tripled to center field to get the home half of the 1st inning started. Center fielder B. Zimmerman followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Lloyd with what turned out to be the game winner.

Selinsgrove got back-to-back hits in the 7th inning with one out to put the tying and go-ahead runs on base, but Mifflinburg turned a game-ending double play to preserve the 1-0 win. Lloyd was the game only multi-hit performer finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Mifflinburg (6-1-1) is back in action this afternoon hosting Shikellamy. Selinsgrove (7-3) will also be at home to day welcoming Milton for a 4:30 first pitch.
