Scouting Report

6/15/20

Physical: A raw, 6-foot-3, 175-pound MIF with present athleticism and plenty more to come. 6.93 runner in the 60.

Offensively: Starts with an even base and some bend in the knees with hands at shoulder height. He brings his hands back on load along with a small stride for timing. His barrel works directly to the ball generating consistent hard line drives. He should develop more bat speed with age and maturity to improve upon his already solid 87 mph exit velo during his BP round.

Defensively: Starts low with his glove out early. Shows fluidity in his actions and worked well from the ground up, funneling ground balls into his stomach with regularity. His hands are smooth and produce clean transfers to get the ball out of his glove quickly. His clean footwork and 86 mph arm suggest he should stick at SS as he gets to the next level.

6/25/19

An athletic lean build at 6-foot-0, 160 pounds. Ran a 7.31 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box with a slight bend in the knees. Loose hands. Simple load actions. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher before attacking the baseball. Quick direct path to the baseball. Gets good full extension after the point of contact. Gets good use of the lower half. Top exit velocity was 82 MPH. Defensively-  Showed active footwork. Showed above average funnel actions. Moves well side to side. Shows a smooth transition and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 75 MPH. The 2022 graduate is a must follow.

6/06/18

Sorensen ran a 7.50-60, an improvement from February. Arm strength from the infield measured at 67-MPH.

2/10/18

Sorensen is a 5-foot-10 135-pound right-handed shortstop who ran a 7.63 60 and 4.48 home-to-1B. Wiry, lean frame. Offensively- Starts with his feet shoulder width apart, slight bend in knee. Shifts weight back on load.  Hands slightly off body, bat angled at 45 degrees. Favors pull side. Comes off the ball, more extension would see more consistent, hard contact. Line drive and ground ball results; 72 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Moves laterally with ease; gets around the ball and breaks down well. Glove can get underneath the body; some hesitation after fielding. 70 MPH arm strength.
