Rating the Outfielders from the Eastern PA Top Prospect Showcase



Their were five outfield prospects who showcased their talents at the Eastern PA Top Prospect Showcase, but none stood out more brightly than Caleb Walls (State College), ranked No. 9 in the Class of 2015. Walls demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the top prospects in the state in the sophomore class.

Walls ran a 7.22 60-yard dash and topped all outfielders with an 82mph throwing arm from his position. Walls is very fluid in his actions and takes precise routes to the baseball. Walls uses an over the top throwing motion and has very good carry on his throws. Offensively the 5-foot-10, 145-pound lefty swinger utlized quick hands and a 76mph bat exit speed velo to spray line drives to all fields. Walls showed some gap power and the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. Walls is a solid prospect to watch in the Class of 2015.

Caleb Walls

Followng we take a look at remaining outfield prospects at the event.

Gabriel Witmer (Twin Valley), Class of 2015
Witmer made a name for himself quickly as he attempted to match Walls blow for blow. Witmer ran a 7.3 60-yard dash and threw 80mph from the outfield. He demonstrated fluid actions in the outfield and the ability to play through the baseball. Offensively Witmer used a 78mph bat exit speed velo to square baseballs consistently to all fields. The 5-foot-8, 145-pound right handed hitter will likely jump into the Class of 2015 rankings as a result of his performance.

Joshua Slocum (Abington Heights), Class of 2013
Slocum showed the ability to make all plays in the outfield. He showcased a 79mph arm from his position and had good carry. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound right hander ran a 8.00 60-yard dash and had a bat exit speed velocity of 76mph. Slocum used his hands well at the plate, stayed inside the baseball and demonstrated the ability to use all fields.

Kyle Fails (Lower Dauphin), Class of 2013
Fails ran a 7.6 60-yard dash and threw 75mph from his position. He demonstrated consistent accurate throws with some carry. Offensively Fails displayed some pop to the pull side. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound lefty squared the ball consistently in a solid round of batting practice.

Robert Gerofsky (Warwick), Class of 2013
Gerofsky is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound OF/RHP who swings left handed. Gerofsky showcased a good arm at 78mph from his position and a solid bat exit speed velo of 80mph. Offensively Gerofsky showed some power to the pull side. He squared balls on the inner half and drove them to the wall in right field consistently.
