Unsigned Senior Spotlight: C Nat Hughes

Nat Hughes is a 5-foot-9, 205-pound catcher from Annville-Cleona High School. Hughes has a solid offensive approach and produces consistent gap power with an 84mph bat exit speed velocity. He shows consistent 2.12-2.20 pop times on throws of 74mph from the couch. He is a physical prospect with solid athletic actions behind the plate.
Below Hughes disucsses his college selection process with Prep Baseball Report.
PBR: Where are you in the process of deciding on a college?
Hughes: I have a list of potential colleges and universities I would like to attend but it is not a final list. I am still open to talking to other schools who might have an interest in me.
PBR: What schools are you currently considering?
Hughes: I am open to any colleges or universities right now.
PBR: Is distance from home a factor in your decision?
Hughes: The distance is not a factor for me. I just want to get into a good school with the right fit.
PBR: Where have college coaches been able to see you?
Hughes: I have attended showcase events this summer. I have also played American Legion and varsity high school baseball.
PBR: What position do you anticipate playing in college?
Hughes: I anticipate being a catcher in college.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?
Hughes: My biggest strength is my leadership with my loud voice. As a catcher you have to be able to see the whole field and make good decisions to help your teammates with whatever you can.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?
Hughes: I played for Annville American Legion and my most memorable moment was hitting a home run off of one of our biggest rivals.
PBR: What is your current GPA?
Hughes: My current GPA is 3.1 on a 4.0 unweighted scale.
PBR: How has Prep Baseball Report aided you in the process of choosing a college?
Hughes: PBR has assisted me by getting my name out to coaches with the website. I just attended my first PBR event but I am confident that their efforts will help me in finding the right school.
