2021 Rankings Review

Shooter Hunt
National Crosschecker

The 2021 Overall Rankings were expanded and updated this week, so On the Hunt checks in with a collection of committed and uncommitted players in the class that made the list.

Irving Carter RHP / 1B / Calvary Christian Academy, FL / 2021

Carter, a Miami recruit, has been wowing onlookers for what seems like a long time now, but his ability to continue getting better is what really stands out. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander has defined strength in his lower-half with a bigger back side, and still looks like he may add some strength to the upper-body in the future. He comfortably pitches at 88-91, touching 92 mph, with a longer arm stroke that clears nearly over the top in its release. His quick hand speed out front allows for the ball to jump out of his hand and at the plate. Though the high velocity that the young pitcher produces is clearly impressive, his secondary offering are what make him such a highly-touted prospect. His ability to drop in a tightly-spun curveball at 72-73 along with a changeup at 74-75 is impressive, especially given his age, and combined with a firm, 85-86 cutter, gives him four pitches that he can attack hitters with. Carter’s poise, polish, and athleticism give him a strong chance to continue his upward trend, and makes him a prospect to remember moving forward.
