Nine to Know: Uncommitted 2020s

Matt Payne
North Carolina Director of Scouting

A new weekly segment to PBR of North Carolina, Nine to Watch will highlight 9 players from across North Carolina that fit into that week’s category.  Categories could range from uncommitted list to top players in a specific region, or top tools.  Nine to Watch provides PBR of NC another opportunity to talk about the athletes in the state.  Players highlighted in Nine to Watch have full PBR Profiles, including video from a PBR event or from a PBR scout while on the road.

Nine to Watch: Uncommitted 2020 Rankings

With the fall season in full swing there are still several players in the 2020 class looking to find the college that is the best for them.  At the time this story is published, 174 North Carolina players in the 2020 class have committed to a school.  To compare, a total of 443 players in the 2019 class committed to play college baseball.  The numbers suggest we are still very early in the process for the 2020 players, and there are still a number of players on the board that will have a chance to make a big splash at the next level.

Today we highlight nine players from PBR North Carolina’s 2020 class rankings who have plenty of tools to show off and could add value to a college program.  The list features three arms that have reached 90 mph or better, a dual player that runs a sub 6.6 60, a catcher with a pop time at 1.90, and an athletic left hand hitting shortstop that plays with pace and has good feel for the barrel.
