Elida vs Defiance - 4/16/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Brayden Lybarger RHP / SS / Elida, OH / 2021

Report: What a performance by the 6-5, 180-pound lanky righty. The stuff was flat out electric. Throws with good intent from a tall back leg. Short, compact arm action with 3/4 arm slot. Velo will continue to rise with added strength and better use of the lower half. One of the best performances from a sophomore I have seen in my time. This dude competes! Get out and see this righty!

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
87-90 mph. The fastball has outstanding life to it with plenty of arm-side run. touched 90 mph four times, at least once in each inning. In the stretch the fastball was 85-89 with the same arm-side run.

Slider: 75-78 mph. Tight, sharp 10/4 break with good spin rate. A true strikeout pitch.

Curveball: 69-73 mph. Tight 11/5 spin with late break. Swing and miss potential that can compliment the fastball/slider combo.

Changeup: 76-77 mph. Thrown with similar arm-speed as the changeup with a good amount of arm-side run.

Game Performance: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K

Opposing Coach Tom Held's Thoughts: "Brayden is as good of a sophomore that I have seen since Chad Billingsley in 2001 and Dace Kime in 2008. Obviously, he has a great arm, but what really impressed me was his upper-70s slider at that age. If he can learn to use more of his lower body, I could see him being a mid-90s guy or better before he graduates high school. I liked Chad and Dace's curveball a little better, as I think there was less stress on the arm."

Perrysburg vs Anthony Wayne - 4/15/19

By: Chandler Cannon
PBR Ohio Intern

Luke Borer RHP / SS / Perrysburg, OH / 2020

Report: One of the most impressive hitting performances in OHSAA history. Led off the game with a 2nd pitch solo homerun, and making two very nice defensive plays, showing off his 85 mph position velocity. Did not have to show off his speed at all during this game as he had a big performance at the plate resulting in 4-6, with 4 homeruns and hitting for the homerun cycle, with 10 RBIs on the day. Very clean swing path and great barrel control as he smashed outside pitches out of the park.

Pitching: On the mound the 6-0 RHP did not have his best day on the mound, but has a chance to be a true two-way guy at the next level.
Fastball: 84-86, Settled into 81-84 after his first inning of work.
Curveball: 70-72 with a true 12/6 break, that kept hitters off balance to complement his fastball.
Changeup: 70-73 needs work, but has a chance to be a very good out pitch for him as he progresses.
Line for the day on mound: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 4 Runs, 3 ER, 2 BB

Hebron Lakewood vs Granville - 4/15/19

By: Thomas Eidens
PBR Ohio Intern

Will Skerbetz LHP / 1B / Granville, OH / 2021

Report: 6-foot-5, 200 pound, Tall athletic built frame. Impressive strength in arms/forearms, and lower half. Skerbetz has time to figure out his body and gain a better feel for it. He shows why he is one of the highest ranked pitchers in his class, given his size and strength throughout. Has a loose spin curveball and a changeup with good movement and running action. Throws from a ¾ slot, relies heavily on his upper body and could use his lower half a bit more. Impressed for the 3 innings that he pitched, allowing 0 ER, 3 Hits, 0 BB, 4 K’s.
