The PBR IA Prospect ID- Monticello event took place on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The event was held at the Eastern IA Sports Facility in Monticello, IA. The event featured prospects from the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and numerous college coaches in attendance. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR IA Prospect ID- Monticello event.

OUTFIELDER EVALUATIONS

Jared Nelson, Anamosa, 2022
Position Profile: OF/RHP
Body: Smaller athletic frame.
Run: 4.66 H-1B
Hit: Square stance, small stride, balanced in box, lift in swing plane, consistently squares baseball, gap to gap approach.
Power: 76 mph exit velocity.
OF Defense: Solid actions, moves through ball well, show athleticism, occasional 2-hand field effects direction.
OF Arm: 82 mph arm strength. Pie arm action, solid accuracy to target.

Levi Quinlan, Iowa City Regina, 2021
Position Profile: OF/2B
Body: Athletic frame with quick twitch actions.
Run: 4.30 H-1B
Hit: Slightly open stance, simple swing, slight lift in swing plane, controlled aggression through zone, developing bat speed, squares baseball well.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity.
OF Defense: Above avg. runner, works through ball, athletic defender.
OF Arm: 83 mph arm strength. Clean arm action, tends to stop after release. Has carry and accuracy on throws.
IF Defense: Fields deep into body, flashes solid glove to field, solid overall actions with present athleticism.
IF Arm: 78 mph arm strength.

Isaac Boley, Dallas Center-Grimes, 2020
Position Profile: OF/2B
Body: Athletic frame with wiry strength.
Run: 4.40 H-1B
Hit: Tall open stance, easy load, drops hands into lower slot, flat line drive path with lift through contact, consistently squares baseball.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity. Hard contact gap to gap.
OF Defense: Solid actions, works through ball, has tempo to field.
OF Arm: 84 mph arm strength. Quicker arm, has solid carry and accuracy to target.
IF Defense: Avg. footwork and glove, tends to funnel under body, makes routine plays, has solid athleticism.
IF Arm: 79 mph arm strength.

Jackson Baedke, Cedar Rapids Prairie, 2023
Position Profile: RHP/OF
Body: Tall thin frame.
Run: 4.68 H-1B
Hit: Square stance, strides inline, catches ball through hitting zone, some scoop to path, solid contact, gap to gap approach.
Power: 80 mph exit velocity.
OF Defense: Tends to field with 2-hands effecting balance and direction. Youth-full actions; should continue to progress with development and instruction.
OF Arm: 75 mph arm strength. Avg. carry and accuracy to target. Tends to stop and throw.

Lane Wels, Dubuque Hempstead, 2022
Position Profile: RHP/OF
Body: Larger frame with developing strength.
Run: 4.83 H-1B
Hit: Square stance, slight body load, some length to contact, line drive swing plane, some lift through contact, shows mid/pull approach.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity. Occasional pop in bat to pull side of field.
OF Defense: Works through ball, uses lower half well in throws. Sure hands and profiles as future left or right fielder.
OF Arm: 83 mph arm strength. Compact arm action with flashes of quickness. Has carry and accuracy to target.

Reece Mayer, Washington, 2021
Position Profile: OF
Body: Compact build with solid present strength.
Run: 4.25 H-1B
Hit: Square stance, body load, compact to contact, consistently squares baseball, quiet head through contact. Follow bat in Iowa 2021 class.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity. Louder contact, hard line drives and fly balls to mid/pull side of field.
OF Defense: Avg. defensive actions. Minimal momentum working through ball. Fields routine.
OF Arm: 78 mph arm strength. Cleaner arm action, opens front side early to throw, lacks carry to target.

Jordan Sedivec, Dallas Center-Grimes, 2021
Position Profile: OF/RHP
Body: Leaner athletic frame.
Run: 4.50 H-1B
Hit: Open stance, knee to knee trigger, compact swing, occasional inverted path, still head through contact, consistently squares baseball.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity. Louder contact, shows quick hands middle/in, follow bat in Iowa 2021 class.
OF Defense: Works through ball well, fields out front, overall solid actions defensively.
OF Arm: 89 mph arm strength. Above avg. arm, quick out front, is accurate to target with carry on throws.

Zach Barden, Cedar Rapids Prairie, 2020
Position Profile: OF/RHP
Body: Lean athletic frame that should continue to add size and strength.
Run: 4.27 H-1B
Hit: Square tall stance, knee to knee trigger, slight arm bar in load, flat line drive swing plane, works gap to gap, consistently squares baseball.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity.
OF Defense: Solid athleticism in field, long arm action, pie arm slot, works through ball. Solid accuracy with carry to target.
OF Arm: 90 mph arm strength.
