PBR JUCO: San Jacinto at Grayson Scouting Notes

On Saturday, January 29 the No. 1 ranked San Jacinto Gators traveled to north Texas to take on the No. 16 Grayson Vikings in the season opener for both clubs.

Game 1: San Jacinto 14, Grayson 7

Leading the way in Game 1 for the Vikings was three-hole hitter Davis Powell. The Texas State commit drove in four, three of them coming on a deep shot to dead center field for a home run. Athletically built at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Powell displayed good balance and a middle of the field approach in the batter’s box and showed to be a reliable defender with sure hands and good body control at shortstop. Freshman OF Brandon Howell also homered for Grayson. The left handed hitter turned around an 88 mph fastball from San Jac’s Lex Garcia, blasting it off of the scoreboard in right center field.
