Preview: NC/SC Border Battle

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

The 3rd NC/SC Border Battle will be played at UNC Charlotte’s Robert & Mariam Hayes Stadium on Tuesday June 21st.  The event will feature 2023, 2024, and 2025 grads from North Carolina and South Carolina facing off.

Position players will open the day with Batting Practice and Infield/Outfield beginning at 9:30am.  From there, three separate scrimmages will be played with players from each state facing off.  Scrimmages will be controlled by PBR staff to keep the day rolling and to manage the stress on pitchers that are in the middle of their summer, still allowing them to showcase against some of the top hitters from the Carolinas.

Below is our 1st look at the full rosters and team assignments for the NC/SC Border Battle.  The full schedule is below as well, with check in times for the event.

The NC/SC Border Battle soldout for position players approximately 2 weeks prior to the event’s date.  The final pitching slots were filled 1 week prior to the event.  This event has quickly become one of the hot spots for players to showcase, updating video and stats for their PBR Profile, while also a spot for college coaches to get a full glimpse at players from each state, on the field.

College coaches and pro scouts are welcome to attend the NC/SC Border Battle.  Scout Packets will be provided and updates will be emailed at the conclusion of the event.  Lunch for coaches and scouts in attendance will be provided by PBR.

In the coming days, look for PBR Scouts to break down some of the roster with player spotlights and positional previews.

North Carolina Teams:  Team 1, Team 3 & Team 5

South Carolina Teams: Team 2, Team 4, and Team 6

*Players are encouraged to bring any water or food they will want or need for the day.  It will be hot and players are encouraged to begin to hydrate this weekend in preparation for Tuesday’s event.

*PBR and UNC Charlotte will have a trainer on staff for the day.  There is a plan to provide water in the dugouts.  Players should be very aware of using their own cups / bottles for hydration to avoid any sharing.

*Players in games 2 or 3 will be permitted to leave after the workout.  We ask that they are back in the stadium around the time the pitcher onlys from their game are checking in.  Players will be able to stretch in the bullpen and cage area prior to their game times.
