2023 Junior Future Games: Team Carolina (SC) Quick Hitters - Position Players

From Tuesday, July 25th, through Sunday, July 30th, the Prep Baseball Report Junior Future Games will take place at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia. This annual event features top 13U and 14U talents from across the country in a tournament-style format, where participants will be given the unique opportunity of competing against other top-level players while representing their respective state in a high-level atmosphere.

This event will run in conjunction with the PBR Future Games. The Future Games features the top uncommitted players in the Class of 2025 and 2026 from across the Prep Baseball Report’s 40+ state coverage area. It is one of the most highly recruited events of the summer and attracts more than 300 college coaches from across the country each year.

This one-of-a-kind event will include individual workouts and a 4-game guarantee with single elimination bracket play to determine a champion in each age group.

On Tuesday, the Team Carolina SC squad participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, collecting measurable and unrivaled data with the help of our tech partners. Below you will find quick hitters on the position players from Team Carolina SC.

 

Quick Hitters - Position Players




Beau Hite, INF/RHP, 2028

5-10 145 lean lanky and athletic frame.  Beau really plays the game at a high level with lots of confidence and athleticism.  Defensively can play all of the infield while doing it with smooth easy actions.  Plays low to the ground with good soft hands and good footwork while working through the balls.  Plenty of arm strength while showing the ability to throw from different arm actions.  With the bat shows good athleticism in the box while having an aggressive approach and looking to drive the ball early in the count.  Swing is flat through the zone with a gap to gap line drive approach with good bat speed.        


Braden Richardson, INF/RHP, 2027

5-10 145 pound frame with good athleticism and room to add on.  Show his versatility during the week while showing his ability to play multiple positions at a high level.  A true infielder that can play all over the infield while showing good actions and arm strength from different arm angles.  In the outfield showed good reads during the week and the ability to track down balls with ease.  In the batters box had a good aggressive approach while looking to get swings off early in the count.  Good short swing with a slight upward path through the ball with a gap to gap line drive approach.  


Colt Babic, OF/RHP, 2027

5-10 150 pound strong athletic frame.  Showed off his athleticism and speed while running a 6.86 60.  Used his speed and athleticism in the outfield while showing he can track down balls all over the field.  Offensively showed off a very quick swing with a flat stroke through the zone.  Has a good strike zone awareness and patient plate approach while also showing off a great 2 strike approach.  Had great at bats all week while going deep into counts but also getting off aggressive swings.   


Trip Ostergard, INF, 2027

5-10 153 pound lanky lean athletic frame.  Ball player that plays the game at a high level.  Defensively can really pick it in the infield and shows the ability to get the right hops.  Shows good arm strength across the diamond while also showing he can throw from different arm angles.  With the bat has a top hand dominant swing while really getting it through the zone.  Has an up the middle approach while keeping the barrel in the zone forever!!!  Good plate approach while showing a good eye and patients.  Swing has good bat speed and strength at contact.      


Jackson Meyers, C, 2027

2 time JFGer that has stood out both years for Team Carolina SC.  A strong frame at 5-9 180 pounds with present strength.  Behind the plate really shows the ability to receive at a high level.  Has good soft hands while working up through the ball.  A good quick clean release on throws while arm strength continues to improve.  Showed the ability to throw with good accuracy as well.  Swing has good strength and quickness to it while working on a clean upward path through the ball.  Bat has power in it with a gap to gap approach with good aggressiveness.  Looks to drive the ball while having a great plate approach.  


Cody Branham, C/INF, 2027

5-10 160 pound frame with present strength and room to add on.  Showed off a very quick exchange with good footwork on throws to second, sometimes getting ahead of himself.  But when on time the ball comes out of hand well.  Receives very well and makes subtle moves to steak strikes.  Good agility and flexibility when blocking balls.  With the bat showed the ability to not only drive the ball pull side but also the ability to stay above a ball a way and use the whole field.  Has pop in the bat with good quickness with a natural uphill path while keeping the barrel in and through the zone.    


Graham Coleman, INF, 2027

5-10 168 pound frame with good athleticism.  Versatile athlete that can play all over the field and do it with ease.  In the infield shows good instincts on the first step while working through the ball and having different arm angles for different throws.  Good arm strength across the diamond to good with good footwork.  Hitter!!!!  Had a knack for barreling up balls all week long.  A good flat bat path with a whole field approach.  Aggressive in the box and looking to get off his best swing early in counts.  Also showed he could shorten up and have a great 2 strike approach.  Was able to handle all different types of pitches and hit balls hard all over the field.      


Emmanuel Benitez, C/3B/RHP, 2027

Big strong physical frame at 5-10 180 pounds.  Bounced around between catching and 3B and showed he could play them both.  Behind the plate was a big target for the pitchers to throw to, while displaying soft hands in receiving.  Good arm strength and quick exchanges on throws.  Big power with the bat with some lift in the swing while looking to get the bat head out front.  Swing stays in the zone while having a patient approach in the box.


John Nypaver, LHP/1B, 2027

Long lean frame at 6-0 160 pounds.  Good athleticism that can play 1B and the outfield.  At first shows off good hands and footwork around the bag, being able to pick and handle balls in the dirt.  Can move and track down balls in the outfield as well.  Left handed hitter with the bat that takes aggressive swings with good bat speed.  Looks to get bat head out front but showed he can drive the ball the other way.  Shows good rotation in swing while getting the barrel through the zone.   


Christian Spivey, INF, 2027

Strong physical frame at 6-1 180 pounds.  Good hands and footwork at 3B while sticking his nose in the ball.  Does a good job of staying in front while fielding the ball out front and having good footwork through the ball.  Left handed hitter with soft loft in his swing and having an aggressive approach while getting his swings off early in counts.  Pull side approach but shows the ability to drive the ball the other way.  Quick bat showed he can handle velocity as well as off speed when staying down on the baseball.  


Rome DeRenzo, 1B, 2027

6-1 190 pound strong physical frame with present strength and room to grow.  Showed good athleticism while bouncing around between 1B and the outfield.  At first base had good footwork around the bag along with good soft hands.  Really good feel how to play the position with ease.  Big bat with good bat speed while working down and through the ball.  Showed off a good patient plate approach.  Was not worried to get to 2 strikes and showed a great 2 strike approach while spreading out and using the whole field.  Really good bat to ball skills with big strength in bat while having a line drive approach.    


Cooper DeVries, OF, 2027

Strong and athletic build; 6-2 183 pounds.  Has a short stride, good balance, and a wide stance when hitting.  Shows good bat speed through the zone while taking aggressive swings and making hard consistent contact.  Flat swing through zone with an aggressive approach.  Had good arm strength in the outfield while working hard to track down balls and get into positions to make plays
