Pro Case Quick Hitters: Hitters

The South Carolina Pro Case took place on Sunday, January 30th at the P27 Performance Center in Lexington, South Carolina. With the cold early morning temperatures and with the high school season starting the next day, we made the decision to hold this event indoors for the safety of the players attending the event.
A premier event for premier talent in South Carolina, we have seen a lot of very talented prospects workout at this event prior to their spring season. Coming off each individual player's preseason workout, this event tends to see players blow up their numbers, giving coaches and scouts a reason to take notice as they prep their spring schedules for evaluation. Will be fun to watch these players continue to develop as the spring goes on with many of these young men draft stock trending upwards.
The event began with extensive rounds of BP with TrackMan ball flight analysis, followed by pitcher bullpens with each pitch tracked by Trackman, along with Pitch AI. Below we will look at some quick hitters from the position players for the event.

QUICK HITTERS - HITTERS
Nathon Hall - 2022 - OF(Lexington (HS) • SC)
6-2 190 pound very projectable frame with present strength and tons of physical upside. Simple setup with a medium leg kick and really gets loaded up well. Stays connected well through the zone and shows elite bat speed with a maximum bat speed of 83.8 from the blast sensors. High end hit tool and shows the ability to hit for contact and power while staying gap to gap with his approach.
Todd Hudson - 2022 - RHP/1B (River Bluff (HS) • SC)
Extra long frame at 6-6 220 pounds for this Liberty commit. This left handed hitter started from a slightly opened stance and used a controlled leg lift to get loaded. Really uses his leverage to drive the ball to all fields. Shows high end bat speed and does a great job of really staying on plane through his swing. Big power potential for him as he continues to mature.
Andrew Bowers - 2023 - RHP/3B (Oceanside Collegiate (HS) • SC)
An athletic lean frame at 6-3 182 pounds with good strength but plenty of upside left. Balanced stance with a smooth load and medium leg kick and gets to a really good balanced hitting position. Showed well above average bat and hand speed while producing a good line drive approach with pull side power.
Bryson Graves - 2023 - RHP/OF West Florence (HS) • SC)
Strong athletic frame at 6-0 175 pounds. An athletic balanced setup with high hands while using a small leg lift and smooth load. Swing is a bit in and out of the zone at times but produced a line drive approach in his swing. Showed his athleticism, with well above average rotational acceleration, hand speed, and bat speed.
PJ Morlando - 2024 - C/OF (Summerville (HS) • SC)
This physical monster stands in at 6’3 194 pound pounds with tons of present strength and plenty of upside in his frame. Hitting from a balanced stance with a slight toe tap to load up and really does a great job of getting loaded into a great hitting position. Showed a premium hit tool with the ability to hit for average and big time power. Really stayed in the zone and on plane, while producing elite bat and hand speed.
Carlos Elian Martinez - 2022 - OF (P27 (HS) • SC)
Strong physical frame at 6’1 200 pounds. Hitting from a narrow tall stance with high hands. Has a small stride with a smooth load. Stayed balanced through swing allowing him to stay through the zone well while driving the ball from gap to gap. Produced really good rotational acceleration in swing while also producing high end bat and hand speed.
Devin Parks - 2023 - RHP/3B (Legion Collegiate (HS) • SC)
Long lean athletic frame at 6’0 175 pounds with tons of projections left on frame. Hit from a taller, slightly opened stance with a small stride and smooth load. Stayed balances through swing with good extension out front. A line drive approach, while showing the ability to hit for power as well. Produced big time bat speed along with really quick hands.
Logan Wagner - 2022 - INF (P27 (HS) • SC)
Strong physical switch hitter with tons of present strength. Same set up from both sides of the plate with a balanced stance and using a medium leg lift and a controlled load. Lands in an aggressive position ready to do damage. Does a good job of getting through the zone and producing power from both sides. High end bat speed along with the ability to really rotate on the ball allowing him to drive the ball to all fields.
Jacob Jarrell - 2022 - C (P27 (HS) • SC)
Very strong physical frame at 6’0 200 pounds. Hitting from a narrow stance and a short, smooth leg lift. Does a great job of getting on plane early and really staying through the ball well, allowing him to drive the ball to all fields with power. Great extension out front of the swing with a higher finish. Showed the ability to have top of the line hand and bat speed in swing.
Marcus Smith - 2022 - OF (P27 (HS) • SC)
5-10 180 pound frame with present strength and room to grow as well. Hit from a simple set up with a small leg lift and quiet hands. Showed off a quick bat while staying flat through the zone with good extension out front. Able to produce well above average rotational acceleration in his swing with above average hand speed. Has a gap to gap, line drive approach while showing the ability to hit for power.
Zander Buchan - 2022 - C (AC Flora (HS) • SC)
5-10 180 pound frame with lots of strength. Switch hitter, showed true switch hitting ability with a compact stroke and plenty of bat speed and strength. Short compact swing while staying flat through the zone producing a line drive approach while using the whole field. Swing produces high end rotational acceleration along with high end hand speed.
Ellis Garcia - 2022 - INF (P27(HS) • SC)
Strong physical frame at 6-0 212 pounds. Hitting from a tall narrow stance with a flat bat. Uses a high leg lift and a control load. Showed a short compact swing while staying flat through the zone, while producing line drives with pull side power. Stayed through the ball well with a good balanced finish.
Tagger Tyson - 2023 - C (Oceanside Collegiate (HS) • SC)
6-1 195 pounds with present strength and room to grow. Simple setup with a slightly opened stance. Uses a small leg lift with a smooth load to get to a good balanced hitting position. A good flat swing really staying through the ball with great extension on swing. Produces above average hand speed and well above average bat speed. A line drive approach while using the whole field with pull side power.
Brent Gibbs - 2023 - C (Spring Valley (HS) • SC)
Smaller athletic frame at 5-7 150 pounds. Switch hitter, showed true switch hitting ability with a compact stroke and plenty of bat speed. Hitting from a taller narrow stance with quiet hands with a small lift and striding to a good hitting position. Shows off a flat swing through the zone with high end bat speed. Really rotates well generating plenty of bat speed allowing him to drive the ball.
Aden Hill - 2023 - OF (P27 (HS) • SC)
Strong frame with present strength at 5-10 200 pounds. Hitting from a balanced athletic setup with quiet hands. Gets to a really strong hitting position with great balance. A good short compact swing, staying through the ball well with good finish out front. Produces well above average bat speed and the ability to drive the ball.
Connor Rasmussen - 2022 - C (Fort Mill (HS) • SC)
5-11 185 pound frame with present strength and room to grow. Hits from a balanced setup with a good athletic base. A small stride with a smooth load. More of a linear type swing with a weight shift forward and does a great job of keeping head down on the ball. Stays flat through the zone producing a lot of line drives in the middle of the field.
Rafael Soto - 2024 - INF (P27 (HS) • SC)
5-8 160 pound athletic frame with good strength and room to add more. Switch hitter, showed true switch hitting ability with a compact stroke and plenty of bat speed and strength. Wide base with a controlled toe tap stride with a smooth load. Has natural loft in swing while doing a great job of getting on plane and staying through the ball well. Showed good strength in swing allowing to drive the ball to all fields.
Rom Kellis - 2022 - C/INF (P27 (HS) • SC)
Strong physical frame at 6-1 200 pounds with good strength. Hit from a balanced stance with a controlled stride and smooth load. Stayed behind the ball well in swing allowing his bat head to get out front. Showed big power in swing while producing quick hands and bat speed. Stayed through the ball with with good extension out front. A line drive approach with a lot of loud contact.
