The PBR Future Games has quickly become the top recruiting stop for college coaches across the country. While the situation in 2020 will not allow coaches to be in attendance, there is still plenty of attention heading to LakePoint, in Emerson, GA, to see the best of the best. The PBR Future Games feature the top uncommitted, underclass players in the country, all in one spot.
Beginning Saturday August 1st, Team Carolina, made up of NC and SC underclass players, will begin their journey through the Future Games. Saturday is a workout day with position players going through a full pro-style workout. Sunday and Monday will feature live game play with Team Carolina taking on Team Florida, Team Mid-Atlantic, and Team Georgia.
Saturday's 1st workout of the day featured Team Carolina position players going through a full pro-style workout. Players took multiple rounds of BP with Blast Motion sensors on their bats, tracking swing analytics, and TrackMan tracking ball flight information. Players also went through an exit velocity station, working off of a tee. Defensively, players were able to show off their skill set from their primary position. Below are the numbers produced by some of the top uncommitted, underclass players in North and South Carolina.
Team Carolina Workout Day
Twelve position players ran the laser timed 60 on the artificial surface at LakePoint. 2023 RHP/OF Colby Umbarger (North Iredell HS, NC) posted the top time for Team Carolina at 6.91. Four players ran under 7.00 with another 3 under 7.20.

Part of the offensive workout included working off of a tee to record a static exit velocity. A Stalker Pro SII was used to record the power from each player. The top bolt was recorded at an impressive 99 mph off the barrel from Gus Shelton (Randleman HS, NC). Ten players pumped out 90 mph or better off the tee. As we dive further into some of the statistics produced, we will pull the metrics from live BP in the coming days.

Infielders did their work from shortstop and 1B, making multiple throws across the diamond, simulating live ground balls. Scouts are looking for actions, feet, hands, rhythm, exchange, carry and accuracy, as well as arm strength. Arm strength can be measured, to a point, by a radar gun. The top infield velocities from Team Carolina are below.

A number of position players for Team Carolina can, and will, play all over the diamond. Four players worked out from the outfield, making throws from right field to the plate. Again, accuracy and carry can be gauged in a number of ways. The radar gun helps to put a number on raw arm strength.

Catchers made multiple throws through to 2B, simulating a stolen base attempt. Coaches and scouts have a number of ways to evaluate catchers. The Pop Time signifies the time from the ball hits a catchers glove to the time it takes for a throw to be received at 2B. The positional velocity is the radar reading of those throws. Three catchers worked out for Team Carolina, each making a mark.
