On Saturday, February 26th, 2022, Prep Baseball Report Minnesota will be conducting its 3rd annual PBR Preseason ID- South Dakota event, to be held at the Avera Dome in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The state of South Dakota continues to show talent each year at this event and this year will be no different. Players from the 2022-2025 grads will showcase their abilities in front of the PBR staff. The roster of players comes from four states: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

A couple of 2023 graduates who are ranked in Minnesota’s top 80 players are Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Kyler Miritello and Sioux Falls Washington’s Bryce Ronken

Miritello, a right-hander with a projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, was one of the highlights from last year’s event. Listed as a two-way player, and ranked 29th overall in the MN 2023 class, Miritello showed well on the mound.  He registered a fastball at 85-86 mph, while topping out at 88 mph with life, to go along with a good feel for both the slider and change-up. Long and loose with plenty of room to fill out his frame, Miritello is an arm to keep an eye on in South Dakota.

Ronken is an athletic left-handed bat ranked 31st in Minnesota’s 2023 class. With a 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame; Ronken has shown his athleticism both in the box and in the field. At last summer’s Underclass Games, Ronken recorded a 6.81-60 yard dash, 79 mph arm strength across the infield and 85 mph exit velocity.  With a well-rounded game, it will be exciting to see how much Ronken has progressed over the last 8 months.

One of the bigger names in Minnesota's 2024 class in Luverne’s Conner Connell. A mature frame that is listed at  6-foot-4, 210-pound is one to dream on, but the overall athletic ability makes him more enticing. A 6.81 runner, 83 mph arm strength and 91 mph exit velocity with the bat, but will also get on the mound and show a fastball that sits 82-85 mph; touching 86 mph. The frame, metrics and skill-set make Connell an extremely projectable prospect in the 2024 class.

Players will also be evaluated and considered for updated player rankings along with being considered for future PBR “Invite-Only” events. The showcase will be featured on the PBR’s website, where more than 900 college coaches subscribe to look for talent. Scouting reports, statistics, and videos will be hosted in player profiles. Top players will also be identified from this event.
