2020 Border Battle Hitters

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On October 13th, the University of Kentucky hosted some of the top 2020’s from the states of Tennessee and Kentucky to play against each other.  Players participated in a showcase in the morning, including defensive evaluations and BP before entering into two 10 inning games.  The weather had an impact on the day, as temperatures hovered in the low to mid 40’s with consistent cloud cover.  Many of the pitchers and position players have posted better measurables during the summer and this fall in better conditions, which makes the big numbers posted by some of the players jump out even more.  Read up on every hitter who attended on Saturday in the 2020 class below!  In game swings are featured for this story, for a look at the workout video, go to the player profile by clicking on their name.

Home-1st: 4.91, Position Velocity:  IF-74, Exit Velocity: 96
6-foot-4, 240-pound, RHH showed what he can do healthy after battling a severe sinus infection at the Futures, featuring ability to find consistent barrels w/ loud bat speed.  XL tall, athletic w/ well-proportioned present strength, close to mature build.  Intimidating presence.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ very short hand rhythm into stride to slightly open and proper load.  Generates premium bat speed through the zone.  Simple, repeatable swing is his separator from other big power offensive players, as he features a quality approach and a knack for contact.  Projectable big power to all fields.  Defensively, is athletic enough to help in the OF but profiles best at 1B.  Features soft hands w/ athletic actions and projectable carry to target arm strength that has played better in the past when he is was not in football season.
