Jackson Greer, C, Knoxville Central, 2016

Greer is a 6-foot-3, 190 pound catcher who recently participated in the East Tennessee Prospect Showcase held at Roane State Community College

Defensively, he caught attention with pop times that ranged from 1.97-2.02 and 77 mph arm strength on his throws to second base.  He displayed a quick, clean transfer and short high 3/4 release while also showing good lateral movement behind the plate.

Greer squared the ball well in batting practice using a balanced, spread stance with a slight leg kick and good lower half torque.  He displays a level swing with good extension and follow through and shows line drive ability with consistent power potential.  Greer’s exit velocity registered at 83 mph, but we suspect that number may not have been his best and should climb moving forward.  Greer should continue to fill out his frame and is an interesting prospect to follow with size, measurables and upside.
