Preseason All-State: Hitter Reports
February 15, 2019
On February 3, Showtime Sports Academy hosted some of the top uncommitted players in the state across 4 graduating classes (with all 4 grad classes represented on the below statistical standouts). Position players began the day by running a 60, getting their exit velocity, taking a 10-round swing of BP and going through defensive evaluations. LUKE STOFEL / 1B / RHP / LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN / 2020Rankings StateRank: 40 / POS: 2
60: 7.59, IF Velo: 82, Exit Velo: 93 6-4, 230-pound 1B was a Future Games participant last year and showed off his continued improvement, leading all hitters and setting his new personal high w/ a 93 exit velocity. Prototypical corner IF frame, tall, athletic, w/ well-proportioned present strength. Close to mature, has a chance to be a monster physically. Offensively, hits w/ an open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into stride to square and proper load. Simple, repeatable swing for someone of his power caliber. Power first approach w/ some length, ball jumps off the barrel. Tools to be a presence in the box. Present power to all fields, chance to be a big-time power bat at the next level. Defensively, moves well at first base w/ soft hands, good footwork and projectable above average arm strength, as he was up to 84 on the mound. |
