The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all-time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the TSSAA Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams.

We start diving into the Preseason Power 25 Rankings, highlighting some of the deepest clubs across the state. Although we could have done 40+ clubs with so many talented teams getting tuned up for the 2021 season, we can only rank 25 and this list will continue to change as the season plays out on the field.  There will be teams not on the list that will be battling for a state championship come late May, so take it for what it's worth, as no championships have ever been won on paper.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.

High School: Eagleville High School

Coach: Brandon Bassham

Classification: TSSAA A-District 8

Team Strengths: Frontline pitching with Logan Kimberlin, then an array of option to round out the pitching staff.

Team Weaknesses: Lost long time starting SS Ryan Wells (Vol State CC), interesting to see who will step up on the infield.

 Top Returning Players:

2021 RHP Logan Kimberlin (Tennessee Commit)

2022 OF/LHP Nathan Brewer (MTSU Commit)

2021 OF CJ Bega

2022 RHP Colin Polak

Top 2021 Prospects:

2021 RHP Logan Kimberlin (Tennessee Commit)

2021 OF CJ Bega

Top 2022 Prospects:

2022 OF/LHP Nathan Brewer (MTSU Commit)

2022 RHP Colin Polak

2022 RHP/1B Tanner Mabry

2022 3B Carter Rockhold

The Eagles cashed in on a state tournament appearance in 2019 after continuously finishing at the top of district 8. Now heading into 2021, they have a plethora of arm options that have them tuned up for another deep postseason run.  It all starts with Tennessee commit RHP Logan Kimberlin, who was 88-92 this summer with a high spin breaking ball and will look to wreck havoc on opposing lineups.  Behind him, they will have juniors RHP Colin Polak (Mid 80s with feel to pitch) and the wild card OF/LHP Nathan Brewer (MTSU commit), who is a legit skilled two-way, but is returning from a fall shoulder surgery and should be limited on the mound.  Throw uncommitted senior OF CJ Bega into the mix, who can track it in the outfield and handle the bat as a solid veteran presence.  Big 6-foot-4, RHP/1B Tanner Mabry has the potential to make a jump and fill innings for Brewer and bat-heavy 3B Carter Rockhold should anchor the hot corner.  The Eagles look to produce another 20+ win season and seem to be one of the favorites to be back at Spring Fling for class A.

Best of luck this season!
