6/13/18 - Max FB: 86, FB: 84-86, Avg FB: 84.71, CB: 73-76, CH: 72-74
6-foot-0, 168-pound, RHP showed swing and miss stuff, generated 47 % swing and miss rate (7 of 15) as he shows legitimate two-way potential.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, projectable.  Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber, which he slides to from the middle of the rubber.  Quiet, clean, repeatable delivery w/ quick arm.  Jumps on you, gets to his slot quicker than hitters anticipate.  Downhill plane.  Straight FB shows occasional short cut.  Medium downer CB flashes proper shape and rotation.  CH w/ arm-speed, occasional fade/occasional cut, and sink, looks like a FB out of hand.  Around the zone, sprayed a little bit on this day.  Projects to control w/ reps.

6/13/18 - Home-1st: 4.50, Position Velocity:  IF-86, Exit Velocity: 78
6-foot-0, 168-pound, RHH showed big arm strength from the infield, which also allowed him to pitch 84-86 on the mound.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, very slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into shift of weight, toe tap and proper load.  Generates bat speed through the zone.  Patient, table-setter approach, understands his zone and does not expand.  All fields, line drive-oriented approach.  Defensively, moves well at SS w/ easy arm strength w/ carry through target.  Plays through the ball well w/ ability to make all the plays necessary of a collegiate SS.  Arm strength was a big jump, is a legitimate 2-way prospect.

10/22/17 - Max FB: 81, FB: 77-81, CH: 76-77
5-foot-11, 168-pound, RHP showed strike throwing ability w/ difficulty to elevate (83 % groundball rate). Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, projection.  Pitches from full wind-up w/ big rocker step into setting on third base side of the rubber.  Balance point into hip drive and H ¾ release.  Easy to repeat delivery w/ low effort throw.  Straight FB.  DNS breaking ball.  CH w/ arm-speed, some fade and sink.  Projects to command w/ repeatable mechanics.  Interesting 2-way follow.

10/22/17 - Home-1st: 4.60, Position Velocity:  IF-83, Exit Velocity: 75
5-foot-11, 168-pound, RHH showed all fields approach w/ no swing and miss against high level pitching.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, projection.  Offensively, hits from a crouched, straight on stance w/ hands even w/ neck.  Some lower half rhythm.  Shift of weight, knee to knee leg kick and proper load.  Arm bar.  Feel for contact w/ projectable bat speed.  All fields approach w/ lot of line drives.  Defensively, shows reliable glove w/ good feet, arm strength w/ carry through target.  Projects to stay at SS as body matures.  Was coming off of a sickness, has posted better run times and exit velocities at prior events.  Intriguing 2020 follow.

9/17/17 - 5-10, 165 pound true SS w/ bat speed.  Righty hits from a slightly open, crouched stance w/ back ear hand location in front of body.  Shift of weight, leg kick and proper load.  Generates bat speed.  All fields approach w/ gap power.  True SS w/ reliable glove, arm strength to stay at position.  Very intriguing middle infield prospect.

6/13/17 - H-1B: 4.40, Position Velocity: 81, Exit Velocity: 80
5’10, 155-pound, RHH has a thin and young frame with plenty of room for growth and the addition of some strength down the road.  His stance is wide with high hands, creating a strong position when his front foot hits and it’s time to attack the ball.  With one of the better rounds of BP, Wells showed a swing plane that came through the zone on a slight uphill path, consistently finding the barrel and driving balls into the outfield with authority.  He currently shows some gap power and much more bat speed than his 80 mph exit velocity would suggest.  Wells could develop some real power down the road.  Defensively, he moves around and through the ball, but can sometimes field the ball a little too deep and cause himself to take an extra step.  He moves athletically and can make every play around the infield.  His throws were accurate and had some solid carry for a 2020 grad.  Wells finished game play 2-4 with a walk.

6/13/17 - Max FB: 80, FB: 75-79, CB: 63-65,
5-foot-10, 155-pound, RHP uses a lot of the athleticism he displays from SS on the mound and showed a loose arm with potential.  With a frame that leaves plenty of room to grow, Wells could add plenty of velo over the next few years to turn some heads.  Long and loose arm action comes from a nearly over-the-top slot.  Fastball was fairly heavy but pretty straight and his curveball showed mostly 12/6 shape through the zone.  Strides closed and has to reach back across his body.

2/12/17 - Max FB: 78, FB: 75-78, CB: 63-65, CH: 67-70,
5-foot-10, 150-pound, RHP gets very closed early in his motion and stays that way throughout, creates a lot of shoulder tilt at the top of his leg lift and hides the ball well, strides and lands in a closed position but has a quick enough arm to get it out front without a problem, long arm action comes through a near over-the-top slot.  Fastball showed some cut, curveball had 12/6 shape with gradual movement, changeup was straight as a change of speed.

2/12/17 - 60 Time: 7.18, Position Velocity:  IF-81, Exit Velocity: 80
5-foot-10, 150-pound, RHH hits from a wider and even stance with some slightly higher hand positioning to begin, uses a pretty generic stride with a lowering and a pushback of his hands to get loaded, lower half does provide a wide and strong base and creates some solid separation by firing his back hip, swing plane is slightly up through the zone and provides some drive and lift, peppered left field with barreled line drives.  Defensively, showed solid hands and above-average footwork in the infield, played to and through the ball but could get a little smoother, exchange leads to a short arm action through a near over-the-top slot, firm throws have good carry and accuracy across the infield. 2020 to watch.
