Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

For part 5 of the Unsigned Series, we shift our focus to the outfielders:

Christian Scott OF / Rossview, TN / 2018

5-11, 155-pound outfielder.  LHH hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location and some bat waggle.  Shift of weight, toe tap (occasional leg kick) and proper load.  Quiet and calm in the box.  Above avg bat speed w/ balanced, all fields approach.  Advanced hitter.  Defensively, shows above avg speed w/ above avg throwing arm and tools to stay in CF.  The top uncommitted 2018 player in Tennessee.

Brady Moore OF / 2B / Scotts Hill, TN / 2018

10/21/17 - Home-1st: 4.53, Exit Velocity: 93
5-foot-10, 180-pound, RHH showed big exit velocity despite having his right arm numb due to being hit directly in the right elbow by a helmet Friday night.  Short, athletic profile w/ projection, some present strength.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Leg kick w/ proper load.  Despite injury, still showed ability to barrel balls w/ backspin.  Shows surprising power for size.  Swing was mostly lower half driven on this day due to injury.  Above average runner underway.  DNS defensively due to injury.  A must see 2018 when healthy, shows positional versatility w/ ability to play some middle infield in previous looks.  Profiles as an all-around CF.

Aidan Raines OF / Mount Juliet, TN / 2018

Also a college football prospect, he shows plus speed w/ CF instincts.  Offensively, shows above average bat speed w/ a patient offensive approach.  Projects to hit for average w/ gap power.

Cooper Cook OF / RHP / Knoxville Halls, TN / 2018

6/14/16 - 60 Time: 6.86, Position Velocity:  OF-88, Exit Velocity: 85
6'0, 170-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and even stance and uses a short, rhythmic stride and a good barrel tilt to get himself going at the plate.  Lower half works well and allows him to really get his back side through the zone, stays very balanced and uses good stability to at strength to his swing, bat path is short and stays flat through the zone the majority of the time, struggled with some lower pitches but was able to get through balls up in the zone. Defensively, showed good athleticism and feel for the position, worked through balls very aggressively while staying under control,  good hands and a smooth exchange help him get rid of the ball efficiently and with good arm strength through an over the top angle with some loose action.  Cook had 2 hits in game play and is an athletic player to keep an eye on in the 2018 class.

Ben Grable OF / Science Hill, TN / 2018

9/10/17 - 5-11, 165-pound outfielder.  Lefty hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back ear hand position.  Bunted for a hit in his only at bat on the first pitch he saw, running a 3.97 down the line.  Defensively, shows the tools to stay in CF w/ arm strength, routes and pure speed.  Very intriguing uncommitted 2018.

Carson Shacklett OF / Brentwood, TN / 2018

4/4/17: Just a hitter.  Feel for barrel and strike zone.  Bat speed to handle velo on the inner half.  Gap to gap type.  Above avg runner.

Chance Hall OF / RHP / Science Hill, TN / 2018

9/10/17 - 6-2, 190-pound outfielder.  Righty hits from an open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Stride to square w/ proper hand load.  Above avg bat speed.  Gets very close to rolling over the wrists too early.  Projects for power.  Defensively, shows the arm strength to play in a corner OF spot. Intriguing uncommitted 2018 prospect.

Dillan Saunders OF / Independence , TN / 2018

9/24/17 - Home-1st: 4.50, Position Velocity:  79, Exit Velocity: 85
6-foot-0, 175-pound, RHH showed quality offensive approach in game, going 2-4.  Medium, athletic build w/ some strength in the lower half.  Offensively, hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Shift of weight, stride and proper load.  Slight bat wrap.  Pull oriented approach w/ above avg bat-speed.  Swing is better in game then in BP.  Developing power w/ pitch recognition skills.  High level offensive player w/ a presence in the box.  Moves well in OF w/ understanding of how to use legs to generate power.  All-around player w/ one of the better in game uncommitted bats in the 2018 class.

Hunter Crawford OF / RHP / Beech, TN / 2018

11/18/17 - 30 Time: 3.91, Position Velocity:  OF-80, Exit Velocity: 102
6-foot-1, 185-pound, RHH shows intriguing combination of run speed and bat speed.  Medium, athletic profile w/ present strength, some physical projection.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, upright stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Bat waggle.  Mini leg kick w/ proper hand load.  Whippy bat speed.  Learning to repeat swing and attacking angle.  Lot of line drives.  Projects to hit for average w/ potential for power.  Defensively, shows above average run speed w/ carry to target arm strength.  Projects to stay in CF at next level.

Jacob Langham OF / Coffee County, TN / 2018

9/18/17 - 5-9, 165-pound OF w/ plus running speed and some feel for barrel.  The righty hits from an open stance w/ a slight crouch and back shoulder hand location.  Hanging leg kick w/ proper load.  Short to the ball w/ bat speed and gap to gap approach.  Plus runner who glides across the bases.  DNS enough for a defensive eval.  Intriguing speed first OF.
