Tennessee Preseason All-State: Quick Hits, Upperclass Catchers
February 23, 2024
GALLATIN, TN - The Tennessee Preseason All-State was held on Saturday, February 10th at Liberty Creek HS in Gallatin, TN. This event was an invite-only event that consisted of players from the 2024-2027 classes from Volunteer state. Players went through an extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to get numbers and metrics on TrackMan. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing at the event.
Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at some of the standouts and top performers from the event.

QUICK HITS - UPPERCLASS CATCHERS
Korbin Reynolds C / SS / Clarksville , TN / 2025The Vandy commit and the number 1 ranked catching prospect in the 2025 class comes in with a prototypical catcher build that should allow him to stick their long term. At 5 foot 11 and 205 pounds, the backstop offers plenty of strength with upside in an already mobile body and fluid body with a 7.14 sixty. The power is raw evident by 94 max EV but there is still so much more in the tank. Consistently on the barrel and offers gap-to-gap line drive ability, Reynolds is the definition of an all around well built ball player. I was able to see him numerous times over the course of last spring where it always seemed as if he was hitting in a big moment and produced time and time again. There is an element of gamer type ability to him where he isn’t just all flash. He shows poise and quiet confidence to meet the competition whether that is in the box or behind the dish throwing would be base stealers out. There is still plenty of development left for him and the upside is for real. Look for him to be a major factor in Clarksville once again making it back to the state tournament. |
AJ Greene SS / C / Collierville , TN / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 44 / POS: 9
I got my first look at Greene last spring as Collierville was in the state tournament and boy, did he not disappoint. He was a staple behind the dish, throwing out any would-be runners trying to steal second. The bat has really blossomed and the frame is one to bank on as he continues maturing. At 5 foot 10 and 200 pounds, he comes in stocky with present muscle build in the frame. Surprisingly athletic with a 7.1 sixty and a 31 inch vertical, he has plenty of upside in a corner spot if he doesn’t stick at catcher at the next level. He is one the top uncommitted prospects in the 2025 class coming off a very successful summer. Gap-to-gap hitter that looks to stay on line for extra base hits. He showed good leverage through the hitting zone with feel for staying through the barrel with good extension. 94 max EV to go alongside an 89 mph EV average for his rounds. Equally as impressive behind the dish with clean transfers and mobility in the hips to work through the baseball upon release working to a low 1.8 pop-time. Arm strength is present (80 mph) with accurate throws to second on line. Should be a guy many schools mark down to come see this spring for what should be one of the best overall teams in the state. |
Davis Peralta C / OF / Lakeway Christian Academy, TN / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 50 / POS: 8
Peralta pooped this summer when he came to an event and was a borderline future games kid. He has since grown in strength and was evident by his 100 mph max EV. Athletic traits expunge from the frame at 5 foot 8 and 200 pounds. He is a prototypical catcher build with strong shoulders and a well developed lower half. He creates a seamlessly easy target and gives off the impression that pitchers like throwing to him. Athletic as well with clean footwork and easy flowing hips, Peralta clocked 7.18 on his sixty, which should allow him to stretch out doubles at a consistent clip. The bat speed stands out with him (74 mph avg) with force in the midsection that allows him to rotate violently at 31 G’s of rotation. 25 mph hand speed also allows him to see the baseball deep and could also be a guy that is athletic enough to profile in a corner spot if catching doesn’t stick at the next level. He receives well with quick twitch in his knees to work to a variety of blocking positions. Arm strength is present (80 mph) with clean releases in a deep squat for a 1.90-2.00 pop time. He is another guy that should have some looks come his way and has a big summer in store for him. |
Cash Pinson C / 1B / Knights Academy, TN / 2025
Rankings StateRank: 54 / POS: 9
At 5 foot 10 and 160 pounds, Pinson is far from a finished product physically wise, and the same can be said for him behind the plate. He isn’t necessarily the most athletic at this point, but he makes up for that with quality footwork and clean transfers that aided him in 1.90-2.05 pop times. Consistently made clean throws down on a hop that allowed for easy receiving at second base. Arm strength is present (78) with more still developing as the body matures. Has some raw power present to him with a 94 mph max EV with consistent line drive shots and a 75% clip of barrel sweet spot percentage. He is a kid that plays hard in game settings and has a competitive nature to him. Goes into the spring as the catcher for a really stout Knights Academy team that will beat a lot of quality opponents, and in turn should continue aiding him as he progresses. |
