Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 (March 11-17).

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Carson Quillen 3B / C / Greeneville , TN / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 52 / POS: 5 Did a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball for Greeneville in the opening week of the spring season. At the plate, Quillen was 14-26 (.538), with seven doubles, one home run, seven RBI's and scored nine runs. On the mound, earned a win and one save, allowing no-hits, one walk, and 11 punchouts. All coming in 6.1 innings of work on the mound. Strong start to the spring for the Virginia Tech recruit.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Christian Henderson RHP / 1B / Clarksville, TN / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 64 / POS: 19 The uncommitted right hander was dominant on the mound for Clarksville this past week. Henderson logged 12 innings of work across two starts, earning wins in both outings. Combined in both outings over the week, he tallied 22 K's, allowing just 9 hits in those two starts, 1 earned run, and 1 walk. During his complete game shutout against Mt. Juliet the right hander needed just 79 pitches to earn the win, landing 60/79 (76%) for strikes.
