The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The reigning 4A Area Finalists return an exciting and veteran-led team in 2024 that looks to build on what the 2023 team accomplished. Coach Jon Nordin should have a strong defense to put behind his returning arms on the mound, as well as having strong offensive depth in 2024.

The Farmers return an impressive senior duo where each has signed to play Division 1 baseball next season in LHP/OF Collin Berry (Stephen F. Austin) and C Brady Gray (Abilene Christian). Berry was voted as the District’s Pitcher of the year in 2023 and will lead the Farmers pitching staff in 2024. Gray was awarded as the District’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and is currently ranked No. 119 in the state. 

Farmersville has even more firepower within the senior class including three returners who earned All-District honors last year. Those returners include: LHP/UTL Caden Norman (uncommitted - 1st Team), INF Kaden Johnson (uncommitted - 2nd Team), and RHP/OF Brayden Malone (uncommitted - Honorable Mention). Joining the senior class on varsity this season will be newcomer INF Jordan Fuller (uncommitted).

The Farmers’ junior class is impressive as well that has two players who were All-District a year ago. LHP/OF Mason Erwin (uncommitted - 1st Team), should play a big role in 2024 as a two-way and solidifying the infield for the Farmers in 2024 will be INF Paxon Graves (uncommitted - 2nd Team). This duo will welcome a pair of newcomers in the varsity junior class in RHP/OF Jahir Vanegas (uncommitted) and OF/RHP Garrett McNeese (uncommitted). The lone sophomore expected to make his varsity debut in 2024 is two-way player LHP/INF Landon Dunham.

With their returning pieces in the lineup and within the pitching staff, Farmersville should be another tough out among the 4A class again in 2024.
