MIDLAND, TX- No. 25 Fort Worth All Saints (19-2, 4-1) traveled out west for a district match-up against Midland Christian (10-11, 2-3).

Two big bodied right-handers were on the bump Friday night, for game one of a two game series. Arkansas Tech commit RHP Matthew Tieding on the mound for All Saints, and uncommitted junior RHP Trace Blue on the mound for Midland Christian. Tieding was very effective for All Saints, collecting ten strikeouts through six innings of work, and only allowing five hits. Blue flashed a big-time fastball that sat 86-87, and at times touching 89. After surrendering a lead-off triple Blue was able to settle in and strikeout the middle of a very talented All Saints lineup. Defensive miscues would lead to prolonged innings for the right-hander and would eventually lead to an early exit for Blue.

Offensively, Fort Worth was led by a couple of uncommitted juniors in RF Jack Hardgrove and SS AJ Mendolia. Hardgrove would turn in 3-for-5 day, with a double, a pair of singles, and three RBI. Mendolia a big contributor to the offensive productivity going 2-for-4, with a couple of triples, driving in three runs, and scoring four times. Trinity University commit CF Cedric Bowman was able to use his above average speed to reach safely and bring in two runs on a couple of perfectly executed bunts. TCU commit 3B Jacob Speaker (No. 91 in the PBR 2019 class rankings, and No. 36 ranked RHP) was also collected a pair RBI’s on a hard-hit ball up the middle. All Saints was able to scratch in every inning besides the first, scoring 14 runs on 10 hits.

Midland Christian would score their only runs of ballgame, that started off with a triple from Gage Jordan. Jordan who would later score on a two-run RBI triple from sophomore LF Luke Greenlee. Defensive miscues would ultimately be the cause to Midlands lack of ability to compete against a strong All Saints team, with Fort Wort outscoring Midland 14-2 in six innings of play.

Final Score: Fort Worth 14, Midland Christian 2.
