Cleburne Wins Behind No-Hit Effort From Rangel

ARLINGTON, TX – The Seguin Cougars played host to the Cleburne Yellow Jackets in a 7 pm district bout on Friday. The matchup on the mound was between starting pitchers William Rangel (LHP, Cleburne) and Paul Denoski (RHP, Seguin).

Rangel, a Texas Tech commit, stole the show when he beautifully crafted a no hit effort that included twelve strikeouts. The left hander kept the Cougar at bay, allowing only three baserunners all night- all coming via the walk. At one point, Rangel had retired fourteen Cougar hitters consecutively. Rangel mixed his fastball and curveball well, occasionally going to his straight change. On the Seguin side of the ball, Denoski struggled early but settled in before giving way to Gio Juarez in relief. The Cleburne offense was led by Javier Torres, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases. Weatherford JC commit, Coy Sims, drove a triple over the right fielder's head, and into a 20 mile per hour wind. Final Score: Cleburne 8, Seguin 0.
