Goss Continues To Rise

KATY, TX-- Almost exactly a year ago, RHP JJ Goss (Cypress Ranch HS, TX) was on the cusp of becoming one of the top pitchers in the 2019 class as he impressed in a long relief outing at a spring break tournament in Katy as I watched from the stands. He pounded the zone and worked uptempo with a whippy-quick arm and putaway slider that allowed him to dominate.


Now, a full year later, Goss has vaulted himself into one of the top prospects in the 2019 class. The wiry-athletic, 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander was noticeably stronger in the lower-half, utilizing the same dynamic delivery as he challenged hitters for seven shutout innings. His fastball was up to 94 mph on multiple occasions before settling in at 91-93 before dipping slightly to 88-91 in the final frame. The friendly confines of Cotton Ranch allowed for close proximity to the plate from behind the backstop, and a large gathering of professional scouts were treated to the sizzling-sound of Goss’ fastball which featured late life to the arm side as it appeared to pick up speed as it enter the zone.
