MADISONVILLE VS. COLLEGE STATION
Matt Rudis, RHP, Madisonville HS, 2018
TCU commit. Rudis has a long-limbed, projectable pitcher’s frame with broad shoulders at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm circle. His fastball sat 89 mph in the first inning with some arm side run, topping out once at 90 mph. His go to pitch is his breaking ball, which he commands for strikes both early and late in counts. The pitch started out as more of a slurve at 76-77 and can vary between 10/4 and 11/5 shape. The breaking ball got sharper in the 4th and 5th innings, flashing a couple at 78 and 79 with tighter rotation and shorter break. Put together a very competitive outing, going 7 complete, with 8 K, 3 BB, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER. Worked out of a couple of spots with RISP to get a punchout. In the fifth, he was mostly 86-88 but still got up to 87 and 89 in the 7th. Ultimately got the win as Madisonville walked off in the bottom of the 7th.
