LEANDER, TX - The Rouse Raiders hosted the Lorena Leopards in a tournament game on a windy Thursday night. Rouse got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs on three hits. However, Lorena would claw back. The Leopards scored 1 in the second, and a few Rouse miscues allowed them to add five in the fourth. Lorena also tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and seventh inning and went on to win 9-3.

SCOUT NOTES:

Colby Diaz, RHP, Rouse, 2022
The righty works from a high 3⁄4 arm slot. His fastball sat mostly 77-78 in his first inning of work, and touched 81 a couple times. The strike thrower relied heavily on his slider, which showed nice depth at 67-70. He showed the ability to pitch backwards with it effectively. While only a freshman, Diaz is an arm to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

Jared Southard, RHP/OF, Rouse, 2019
Texas recruit, currently ranked No. 46 in the Texas 2019 class. Big, physical build with present strength, especially in his lower half. While his primary position is on the mound, Southard played right field for the Raiders on Thursday. Early in the game, he showcased his impressive arm strength attempting to throw out a runner at third base. His throw from right center field to third base showed a lot of carry. Also picked up two hits in the game, both singles.

Jett Forrest, C, Lorena, 2019
Northeast Texas CC recruit. Tall, athletic frame with room for more strength. Behind the plate Forrest showed a strong arm, with pop times between innings ranging from 2.09-2.19 on the bag. He was aggressive with runners on base. Several times he attempted to back pick runners at both second and first.
