Memorial Wins Big In Game 1

SPRING, TX - Spring High School hosted a home playoff game against Memorial High School Thursday night. Starting on the mound for Spring was 2018 RHP Andrew Cossio (McLennan JC),while Memorial went to 2018 RHP Walker Zander.

Andrew Cossio got off to a rough start by walking the first three batters of the game, but was able to get out of the inning, allowing just one run on a sac fly by 2019 Jackson Appel. 1-0 Memorial.

Spring answered back in the second inning when H. Woods hit an RBI double down the left field line. Memorial added a run 3rd on a single by 2020 Jack Riedel, and another in the fourth on a squeeze bunt by Payne Trozzo. Spring answered back when Dvlan Golden led off the inning with a double, followed by two singles from 2018 Andrew Cossio and Devin Garza who had the RBI. They would bring in one more run on a sac fly by 2018 H. Woods making the score 4-3 at the time.

Spring's starting pitcher Andrew Cossio exited the game in the fifth, thats when Memorial took advantage of a number of walks, followed by a 2-RBI triple by Hunter Baldwin, bringing the score to 8-3 in favor of the Mustangs. 

That is when Memorial went 2018 RHP James Kirkpatrick (Harvard), who shut down the lions the rest of the game. The Mustangs added another run in the sixth when 2020 Jack Riedel hammered a solo shot to right-centerfield for a home run. Several batters later, pinch hitter Davis Koskie drove in two more runs, bringing the score to 11-3.
