North Texas Underclass Games: Quick Hits

McKINNEY, T.X. - On July 7, our PBR Texas Staff hosted our North Texas Underclass Games to a much anticipated showcase and trials at the Diamond Kings Baseball Academy. This event was absolutely   loaded with top prospects in the 2022-2024 classes from around the state, with a plethora of uncommitted prospects college recruiters will want to follow closely this summer. 

Tyler Sudderth RHP / 3B / Granbury, TX / 2022

Sudderth was pounding the strike zone and keeping hitters off balance throughout the entirety of his outing sitting 83-86 T87 mph with fastball. His curveball was the pitch that stood out most at 71-74 mph with tight spin and sharp 10/4 action. 

Coldon Kiser OF / RHP / Frenship, TX / 2022

Another kid that showed athleticism across the board through the event. He ran a 6.99 yard dash, had a max velocity of 85 mph from the outfield and a max exit velocity of 96 mph during BP. In the game, he showed the ability to track baseballs in multiple positions in the outfield. On the bump, he was 83-86 mph with his fastball, flashing sink and also had a curveball that flashed sharp, late movement at 73-75 mph.

Dominick Reid 3B / RHP / Frisco Lone Star, TX / 2022

Reid’s athleticism flashed early in the defensive portion of the workout on the infield with clean, fluid actions and good arm strength across the infield at 84 mph. The arm strength carried over to the mound, with his fastball sitting 83-85 T86 mph flashing arm-side run. His athleticism continued to show at the plate with a max exit velocity of 88 mph, hitting balls from gap to gap. 

Dane Burns LHP / 1B / Allen High School, TX / 2023

Hockey player from Canada turned left-handed pitcher with a long, clean arm swing. His fastball was 78-81 T82 mph while mixing it with a 68-69 mph curveball. Burns made a lot of hitters feel uncomfortable by mixing his pitches well but also throwing them out of the same window and came inside plenty of times on hitters jamming them up. 

Kendall George OF / Atascocita, TX / 2023

Fastest 60 time of the day at 6.39 sec. and had a max exit velocity during BP of 86 mph. Quick twitch athlete that has plenty of room for growth at the plate as he matures physically. 

Max Belyeu OF / RHP / Aledo, TX / 2022

Alabama commit. One of the top hitters in the state. Belyeu tied for the top exit velocity of BP at 97 mph, launching balls from gap-to-gap with authority. He continued that into the game with a triple in the RCF gap. Belyeu also threw 90 mph from the outfield, highest at the event, and also ran a 6.93 60. 

Lathan Van Ausdall SS / OF / Allen, TX / 2023

Oklahoma commit. Quick twitch, dual-sport athlete showed well again today. During BP, he had a max exit velocity of 96 mph, hitting balls from gap to gap. During the defensive workout, he threw 81 mph across the diamond with clean, fluid actions across the board. 

Matthew Houston C / Hallsville, TX / 2022

Houston’s bat was loud all day long. During BP, he had a max exit velocity of 90 mph peppering the gaps with line drives consistently and also had a hit to the oppo gap during the game. He also had a 2.05 pop time. 

Ethan Mendoza SS / 2B / Southlake Carroll , TX / 2023

Mendoza stood out during his round of BP with a max exit velocity of 92 mph. He sprays the ball all around the yard, with a quick whip swing. On the infield, he showed clean actions throwing 81 mph across the diamond.

Brayden Randle SS / C / Rockwall, TX / 2023

Texas commit. Randle showed well throughout the event offensively and defensively. During BP, he had a max exit velocity of 92 mph, hitting line drives from gap to gap. Defensively, he showed clean, fluid actions while throwing 85 mph across the infield. 

Adrian Guzman SS / RHP / Aledo , TX / 2022

Guzman showed solid arm strength today in the infield and on the bump. Across the diamond, he was 87 mph with good, athletic actions. On the bump, his fastball 83-86 mph with natural cut. He mixed it with a slider that was 72-74 mph that flashed sharp, late action with cut spin. He did a good job of having both pitches come from the same window and getting some bad swings on the breaking ball.

Quentin Moon LHP / OF / Henderson , TX / 2022

Long, clean arm LHP. Moon was 78-81 mph with late life and flashing arm-side run. Mixing in with the fastball, was a 10/4 curveball from 65-67 mph flashing sharp action. He did a good job getting early outs on weak contact and missing barrels. 

Jake Duer OF / LHP / Marcus, TX / 2022

Quick swing, left-handed swing that peppered balls from gap to gap with a max exit velocity of 94 mph. Duer continues to improve each time we see him and has plenty of room for development. 

Henry Mitchell SS / RHP / Albuquerque Acaddemy, NM / 2022

Mitchell showed good athleticism throughout the event. On the infield, he had clean actions with a quick arm that was 86 mph across the diamond. During BP, the switch hitter had a max exit velocity of 91 mph, showing a good swing, flashing good pop from both sides of the plate. On the bump, he featured a firm fastball at 82-84 mph mixing it with a 74-76 mph changeup that flashed good sink.

Elbert Craig 1B / RHP / Mansfield Timberview , TX / 2024

As one of the youngest players at the event, Craig impressed at the plate. He had a max exit velocity of 97 mph, making loud contact consistently throughout his round. 

Nick Mesquita OF / Allen , TX / 2022

Another quality athlete that showed well throughout the workout. In the outfield, he threw 84 mph with really good accuracy. During BP, he had a max exit velocity of 90 mph hitting line drives from gap to gap.

Cooper Schneider OF / 2B / Cleburne, TX / 2022

Good athleticism across the board for Schneider. He ran a 7.09 60 yard dash, threw 88 mph from the outfield with good accuracy and carry and had a max exit velocity of 89 mph spraying line drives all around the yard.

Jacob Devenny OF / OF / Prosper, TX / 2022

Devenny showed during the entirety of the NTX Underclass games with a 7.00 60 time, 95 mph exit velocity during BP, hitting balls hard consistently and threw 87 mph from the outfield.
