Oak Ridge vs. The Woodlands

CONROE, TX — Oak Ridge played host to #8 The Woodlands to open up district play for the two teams. Both teams have D-1 talent up and down their rosters but it was The Woodlands who came out on top.
The Highlanders were led offensively by 2020 OF/RHP Josh Ekness (#88 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings, committed to Lamar) who had three RBI on a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly. 2020 OF Matthew Bulovas had three hits for The Woodlands while 2020 catcher Drew Romo (#2 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings, #10 in 2020 PBR overall rankings and #21 in 2020 PBR Draft Board; committed to LSU), 2020 LHP/OF Cam Caley (#49 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings and #440 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Baylor) and uncommitted 2020 OF Carter Doucet all had two hits while Caley also added in a home run of his own.
Caley also got the start on the mound for The Woodlands, throwing 4 innings of 1-hit baseball while allowing 1 run with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. 2021 RHP Cody Howard (#40 in 2021 PBR Texas rankings and #352 in 2021 PBR overall rankings, committed to Baylor) came in relief of Caley and finished off the final three innings without allowing a hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
For Oak Ridge, they get their lone run in the 1st inning off the bat of 2020 1B Lance Hicks (#85 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings, committed to Northwestern State) on an RBI double off the wall in CF.
In relief for Oak Ridge on the mound, 2020 RHP Jonathan Cordaway (committed to Tarleton State) went 1.2 IP allowing one run on one hit while striking out three batters.
