North Texas Underclass Trials: Quick Hits

McKINNEY, T.X. - On June 9, our PBR Texas Staff hosted our North Texas Underclass Trials to a much anticipated showcase and trials on the confines of Diamond Kings Baseball Academy. The event featured a talented group of underclassmen in the 2022-2025 classes. Today we kickoff our post event coverage with our Quick Hits Notebook on few prospects who made a strong impressions.

Caden Mitchell C / 3B / Celina, TX / 2023Solid catcher with a 2.00 pop time to 2B and max exit velocity of 94 mph during BP, hitting line drives from line to line. |
Lane Allen SS / RHP / Denton Guyer, TX / 20236-foot-2, 190 pound infielder that moves well with a strong arm at 90 mph across the infield and touched 83 mph on the bump. Solid round of BP with a max exit velocity of 96 mph, lacing balls from gap-to-gap. |
Brady Dever 3B / SS / Ft. Bend Christian, TX / 2023Smooth left-handed swing that flashed good power with a max exit velocity of 87 mph |
Rashawn Galloway C / 3B / Boerne , TX / 2022Athletic right-handed hitter who hit line drives from the RCF gap around the LF line with good, loud contact.

Ethan Mendoza SS / 2B / Southlake Carroll , TX / 2023Small stature, right-handed hitter who barrelled the ball well to the pull side, with a max exit velocity of 94 mph. Showed good actions in the field with a quick arm at SS.

Nolan Williams OF / Salado, TX / 2022Strong, right-handed hitter flashing raw power to pull-side. Peppered left field with line drives throughout his round of BP, having a max exit velocity of 97, the highest on the day.

Jake Duer OF / LHP / Marcus, TX / 2022Athletic left-handed swing lacing balls from gap-to-gap flashing good power and moved well in the outfield. |
Bennett Fryman OF / LHP / Frisco Lone Star, TX / 2023Fryman showed off a strong arm on the bump and on the mound. His fastball sat 83-85 mph, touching 87 mph and threw 90 mph from the outfield. |
Tice Purpura C / RHP / Southlake Carroll, TX / 2023Strong RHP that was 80-84 mph with his fastball that flashed heavy action and a curveball that flashed depth at 70-71 mph. Purpura also had a good round of BP hitting line drives consistently from gap-to-gap with a max exit velocity of 89 mph. |
