The Texas high school season kicks off on February 19, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 26, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. SEASON PREVIEW

Coach Miguel A. Torres has a veteran team on his hands, returning starters at many key positions. This season will see First Team All-District 2B Jeffry Mercado move to SS, while staff ace RHP Daniel Garza will move into the 2B role when he is not on the mound. Mercado is ranked 134 in the Texas 2019 Class, and the junior shortstop has fast-twitch actions in the middle of the field. 3B Zach Frias, a Frist Team All-District selection, will provide key leadership for this young group. This young core has plenty of experience under their belts to compete right away.
