The Texas high school season kicks off on February 19, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on January 26, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. Win 28 games, finish first in conference, reach the regional finals, return all nine starters and seven pitchers, Coach Jeff Bennett has the Kirbyville Wildcats poised to make some noise this spring. District MVP and All-State LHP/OF James Burchett will lead this talented group of players as they attempt to repeat and build on their success in 2017. Burchett will not be alone in this endeavor. RHP/3B Will Rice (First Team All-District Pitcher) will provide support on the mound, as C Luke Wallis (Second Team All-District Catcher), 2B Bo Waldrup (First Team All-District Second Baseman), OF/LHP Tyler Brown (Second Team All-District Outfielder) form a rock solid defense behind their aces.
