Super 60 Risers and Revelations

Sean Duncan

Nearly a month has passed since the players at the 16th Annual Super 60 blew the roof off The Max with arguably the best overall collection of individual performances in event history. We've pumped out a lot of Super 60 related content already, but we are still diving into all the FlightScope data, writing the individual reports and breaking down the video.

Here, I look at 10 of the biggest risers from the Super 60. By no means is this my list of the best players at the event, though many of the below names would certainly be in there. No, this list consists of players who saw their stock skyrocket after their performance on Feb. 4.

This list could easily have been 20-30 names ...

Ryan Cusick RHP / Avon Old Farms, CT / 2018

Wake Forest recruit. 6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build with wide shoulders and plenty of room for continued physical development; overall high level of projection in the frame. Arguably the biggest winner at the Super 60, certainly saw his stock skyrocket after his electric bullpen. Showed premium fastball velocity with little effort, working 93-95 mph. Simple, low-effort delivery, repeats well for size, slightly closed landing, gets down the mound well with athleticism. Early hand break, clean arm circle coming out a high-¾ slot with quick, athletic arm at foot strike. Fastball showed arm side finish with some sink, sitting mostly at 94 with a few 95s. (NOTE: Per FlightScope data, he registered event-best 96.8 mph fastball, and delivered 5 of the top 10 hardest fastballs at the event). On average, his fastball entered the zone travelling at 85.45 mph, peaking at 86.9 on a 95.6 fastball. Showed advanced feel for changeup at 86-87 mph, throws it aggressively and for strikes, flashing occasional power arm-side sink. Changeup spin rate averaged 1,581 rpm. Breaking ball worked at 80-82, lacked shape. Overall, with Cusick's size, athleticism, and present stuff, he should continue to see gains in the future and become a high-interest draft prospect.
