UIL Playoff Scout Notes: Week 1

Toby Bicknell
Texas Scouting Director

After an exciting first round of the Texas High School Baseball playoffs, here is a quick roundup with video, news and notes from Friday's game between College Park and Rockwall Heath, as well as Saturday's game between The Woodlands and Rockwall. Both College Park and The Woodlands advanced to the second round.

Kaden Krowka, LHP, Rockwall Heath HS, 2018
Oklahoma State commit. The left-hander had a stellar outing in a must win game two for Heath last week against College Park. Krowka works from a ¾ slot with good life on his 85-88 mph fastball. Topped out at with his fastball sitting 85-88 early in the contest, topping out at 89 once. Has good feel for his curveball with 2/8 break at 71-75 mph. Turns his changeup over with arm side fade at 78-79 mph. His fastball was still 83-86 in the seventh inning. Very competitive outing, worked around seven hits, two walks, and a big error that would have ended the inning, allowed only one earned run in six and two-thirds. After two quick outs in the top of the seventh, he waved off the coaching staff, wanting the last out of the game. Krowka and Heath got the win, but were eliminated in game three by College Park.
