KATY, T.X. - On June 1, our PBR Texas Staff hosted our Uncommitted Upperclassmen to a much anticipated showcase and trials on the welcoming confines of Cotton Ranch. The event featured a talented group of uncommitted upperclassmen in the 2020-2021 classes. Today we kickoff our post event coverage with our Quick Hits Notebook on few prospects who made a strong impressions.

QUICK HITS

Tyson Luna OF / LHP / St. Johns, TX / 2021

St. Johns, lean athletic left handed OF/P that showed great progress and upside. Luna moves around the OF athletically and handles the ball well defensively, showing good carry and accuracy on throws to the plate. In the box, showed a natural rhythm in his load and stayed in the middle of the field well with a top BP exit velocity of 89.3 mph. Luna was also able to jump on the mound and show his athleticism and command the ball up to 86 on the day, and average 83.4 mph with a quality changeup off it.

Justin Long C / RHP / Kingwood, TX / 2020

Kingwood 2020, Showed an all around game at the showcase. On the mound touched 90 one time but averaged 88.8 mph on the bullpen with a curveball that showed some depth as well. Showed a compact arm path and the ball jumped out of the hand easily. Behind the dish showed a quick exchange and strong up with a POP time of 1.96. At the dish produced solid contact with a top exit velocity of 91.8 mph and stayed in the middle of the field well.

Joel Garcia 2B / SS / J B Alexander, TX / 2021

Laredo Alexander 2021, bounces around the field and brings attention to himself from his effort and energy as well as his tools. Garcia was able to show clean, fluid actions on defense up the middle, but was really able to stand out at the plate on the day. Showing a compact, strong swing that produced hard contact throughout the round. Max exit velo on the day was 91.6 with a launch angle of 26.4 degrees carrying 360 feet to left center field.

Zachary Cawyer RHP / SS / Nolan Catholic, TX / 2021

Nolan Catholic, 2021, 6-foot-4, 180-pounds, long and lean frame with plenty of room to add weight and strength. On the mound was up to 89.2 mph on the day and averaged 88.3 mph. FB jumps on you some with natural deception within the delivery, throwing his long limbs at you down the mound. Cawyer was able to show a curveball that would show the right action but was a little inconsistent with the command on the day.

Peyton Fosher SS / RHP / Tomball, TX / 2021

Tomball 2021, Had a solid day on the mound showing an athletic delivery with natural rhythm within it getting down the mound with ease. Showed a loose arm action out of a ¾ slot showing some armside life to the fastball at 84-86 mph. Was able to throw his offspeed for strikes consistently on the day as well. Look for more jumps from Fosher over the summer.
