The PBR Texas Unsigned Senior Showcase took place on October 27th at The Franklin Ranch. This showcase featured 41 uncommitted prospects from every corner of the state. The last two days, we released scouting reports on each player. Today, we concluded our coverage of the event by ranking the top prospects in attendance, regardless of position.

TOP PROSPECTS

Zach Ryan RHP / 3B / Friendswood, TX / 2020

6-foot, 180-pounds, was the best arm of the day at the event. Has an athletic tempo to the delivery, slightly hides the ball and the arm path works well. Fastball came in at 88-90 mph with some late life at the top of the zone, paired it well with a curveball at 72 mph with tight spin and depth to it at the end. Also was able to flash a changeup at 80 mph with good arm speed. Ryan showed the ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes and has plenty of room to grow still as a pitcher.


Trent Cook OF / RHP / Needville, TX / 2020

6-foot-2, 200-pounds, at the plate has some moving parts but when right was able to drive balls to pull side hard. From the tee had an exit velocity of 85 mph. In the outfield the throws had good carry with a long release up to 89 mph. Cook also ran a 7.5 60-yard dash.


Ryan Messick RHP / Jesuit College Prep, TX / 2020

6-foot-1, 180-pounds, has a quick tempo to his delivery that works well with his quick short arm path. Really uses his legs well throughout the delivery as well. Fastball comes in at 85-86 mph with some arm side run when it was down. Was able to show the ability to throw a breaking ball at 74 mph with some depth and a changeup at 77 mph.


James Leland 1B / LHP / Grapevine Faith Christian, TX / 2020

6-foot, 185-pounds, at the plate showed easy line drives and feel for the barrel during BP, had an exit velocity of 89 mph from the tee as well. In the field had throws across the diamond at 74 mph. Leland also on the day ran a 7.80 60-yard dash.

Nick Mueller

OF/ CLEAR FALLS, TX/ 2020

6-foot-1, 170-pounds, ran a 6.89 60-yard dash. In the outfield threw uphill some but was accurate and had a throwing velocity of 82 mph. At the plate Mueller dives to the ball some, hits across his body, worked around the ball some but was able to produce pull side line drives. Also produced an exit velocity of 87 mph from the tee.


Chody Spann OF / C / Groesbeck, TX / 2020 OF/ Clear Falls, TX/ 2020

6-foot-1, 170-pounds, ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. At the plate Span is a switch hitter, with loose hands and actions, producing line drives to all fields. On the tee was able to record and exit velocity of 76 from the right side and 73 from the left side. In the outfield Span threw with a short arm action, was slightly under the ball, but had a velocity of 82 mph.
