On Saturday, October 31st, the PB Texas staff traveled to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, to host the Texas State Games: Underclass, an invite-only event for the class of 2029 & 2030.

More than 75 players made their way to Sam Houston and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting more of the traditional statistical categories. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the top standouts from the event.

Physical LHP with an athletic arm path and quality hand speed from a three quarter slot, showing some crossfire action in the delivery. FB sits 86-88 mph with arm side run, while mixing an 80 mph CB and 82-83 mph cutter that plays best working down and in to right-handed hitters. CH works 81-82 mph with arm side run, giving him a quality four pitch mix. Recorded two strikeouts without allowing a hit in his outing. Intriguing 2028 arm with plenty of upside on the mound.

Deacon Chase | OF/RHP | Katy | 2028 | 5'11" 165
Solid two way player with present pitchability and feel for the zone. On the mound, works with a side rock step and clean arm path, maintaining quality direction down the slope. FB sits 84-85 mph with the ability to locate on both sides of the plate, while mixing a 71-72 mph breaking ball and 76 mph CH with sink. Recorded three strikeouts in his outing. Quality strike thrower with a solid three pitch mix and room to continue developing.

Logan Davis | RHP/3B | Quitman | 2028 | 6'4" 210
Physical RHP with an impressive frame and plenty of projectability. Works with a side rock step and high leg lift, showing a clean arm path and aggressive movement down the slope. FB sits 86-87 mph with arm side run, while the CB works 72-73 mph with up to 2480 rpm, showing quality action when getting the hand out front. Mixes a 79-82 mph CH to round out his three pitch mix. Recorded two strikeouts in two innings of work. High upside arm with room to continue developing.

Impressive outing on the mound, striking out seven of eight hitters faced with a repeatable delivery and quality strike throwing ability. FB sits 86-87 mph with 19 IVB and 16 HM, while the SL works 77-79 mph with 2200+ rpm. Mixes an 82 mph CH and 74-76 mph CB with 2390 rpm, showing feel for a four pitch mix. Behind the plate, shows present arm strength up to 79 mph with pop times of 1.94-2.11. Quality two way player with impressive mound presence and tools on both sides of the ball.

Wilson Riemer | LHP | Marcus | 2029 | 6'3" 213
Physical LHP with a quality frame who has made solid jumps over the last few months. Moving well down the slope with improved direction, featuring a FB at 84-87 mph with arm side run, tilt down in the zone, and carry up in the zone with 22 IVB. CB works 69-70 mph with present feel for spin and quality speed differential off the FB, while mixing a 77 mph CH. Pounded the zone and recorded four strikeouts in two innings of work. Intriguing young arm with plenty of room to continue developing.

Athletic RHP with a quick hand and clean arm path, working aggressively down the slope with a repeatable delivery. FB sits 83-86 mph with up to 2300 rpm, showing present feel for the zone. CB works 75-77 mph with 2670 rpm, flashing plus pitch potential with quality swing and miss traits. Mixes a 78 mph CH to round out his three pitch mix. Cooper Knight | 1B/LHP | Buda Johnson | 2029 | 6'2" 185
Athletic LHP with a projectable frame and plenty of upside on the mound. FB sits 83-86 mph, while mixing a 67-71 mph CB and 74-77 mph SPL. CH works 75-76 mph with deception and arm side run, showing plus feel for the pitch. Quality strike thrower with a four pitch mix who will continue to improve his direction down the slope toward the target. Plenty of room to make gains as he continues to develop.

Great build/frame to add strength. 7.21 60. Developing defensively at first base.

Bat/power combination will play at first. Shows hard contact with a 101+ top exit velo and 93.2 average. Raw power present to the pull side. See him developing plus raw power.

Cash Monson | OF/RHP | Pieper | 2029 | 6'4" 195
Projectable RHP with a quality frame and plenty of arm upside. FB sits 85-88+ mph, while the SL works 75-76 mph. Recorded four strikeouts in two innings of work despite not having his best command or overall consistency. Has shown better execution in previous looks, but the stuff still played and generated outs. Intriguing young arm with plenty of potential as he continues to develop.

Samuel Willingham | RHP/SS | Second Baptist | 2029 | 6'0" 171
Pitchability RHP with a repeatable delivery and advanced feel for command, consistently working the perimeter of the zone. FB sits 81-82 mph with sink, while the SL works 71-73 mph with quality two plane action. Shows the ability to move the baseball around, change speeds, and manipulate sink and spin to miss barrels and generate rollovers. Arm speed should continue to develop, but the present command and pitchability stand out.

Landon White | OF/LHP | Nuclear Prep Academy | 2029 | 6'2" 170
Tall, lean LHP with a projectable frame, long levers, and plenty of room to add strength. Shows a loose, easy arm action with good extension down the slope toward the hitter. FB sits 82-83 mph, while the CB works 74 mph with solid depth and the CH sits 79 mph. Recorded three strikeouts in his outing. Intriguing look from the left side with plenty of physical upside as he continues to mature.

Easton Davey | 3B/RHP | Buda Johnson | 2030 | 5'10" 165
Projectable young player with a quality frame and plenty of room to develop physically. On the mound, shows an athletic, clean arm path with a repeatable delivery and present feel for the zone. FB sits 82-85 mph, while mixing a 76 mph SL and 77-78 mph cutter. Solid strike thrower with a quality foundation on the mound and plenty of upside as he continues to mature over the next few years.

Great build/frame to add strength, with present strength in the lower half. 6.98 60. Moves well behind the plate, with hands that work receiving. Handled various arms. Quickness to release with carry to throws. Workout pop times of 1.81-1.99. In-game pop time of 1.93. Arm plays.

Solid hit approach with the ability to impact the baseball. Top exit velo of 103.5, averaging 96.4. Projects to have plus raw power, if not better. Prospect and definite follow. One to watch develop.

Jordan Owens | INF | Glenn | 2029 | R/R | 5’6” 153
Can play the game. Actions and instincts present defensively. Made a great diving play in game action, showing foot quickness. Plus runner, 6.85 60.

A bit undersized physically, but not sure anyone played bigger in games. Quality ABs. Surprising power. Went 2-for-5 in game play with a pull-side HR. Hard contact in four of five ABs.

Owen Stone | CF | Northwest | 2029 | R/R | 5’11” 170
6.89 60. Great build/frame for future strength. Range present in the outfield. Can throw, with carry present. Consistently barreled the baseball in BP with solid contact. Flashed pull-side raw power. Impact will continue to develop.

Luke Skarda | 1B | Byron P. Steele | 2030 | R/R | 6’4” 230
Big, physical build. Moves well for his size. Doesn't get cheated at the plate, with the ability to impact the baseball. Showed a top exit velo of 101.2, consistently finding the barrel for a solid average exit velo.

Steady defender who moves well coming off the bag. Interesting player to watch in the 2030 class.

Deacon Chase | OF/CF | Katy | 2028 | L/R | 5’11” 160
Projects physically to add strength. 6.94 60. Solid defensive outfielder with the ability to play all three OF spots. Best suited for a corner at the next level.

Consistent hard, line-drive contact with a 95.2 average exit velo. Couple of line-drive doubles in game play, showing an all-fields approach.

Easton Hernandez | C/1B | Pieper | 2029 | R/R | 6’0” 188
Build/frame to add strength. 7.34 60. Solid receiver in game play. Showed quality workout pop times, with a best of 1.94. Made accurate throws in games, although pop times backed up some.

Flashed impact in BP with a 101.4 top exit velo and pull-side raw power. Will continue to improve. 2029 catcher to watch develop.

Maddox Bryant | INF | Kingwood | 2029 | L/R | 6’1” 180
Great build/frame to add strength. 6.65 60 with quickness present. 4.26 in-game time. Will get his share of SBs.

Solid hit approach with quality ABs in games. Actions present defensively with carry to throws. Projects to have plus HS arm strength as he develops. Stays in the middle defensively. Flashed pull-side power in BP, consistently finding the barrel.

Santiago Navarro | C | Cypress Christian | 2028 | R/R | 6’2” 185
Projects well physically to add strength. 7.24 60. Received well in game play, handling various arms. 1.87 workout pop time. Did not get a pop time in games.

Solid swing with hard contact. Showed raw power in BP with a max exit velo of 101.3. Quality ABs in games, including a couple of hits and a triple. Player gets better every time I see him.

Riley Thompson | INF | Rouse | 2029 | R/R | 6’2” 206
Solid build with room to add strength. Plus runner, 6.89 60, showing some quickness to start. Infield actions developing with carry to throws.

Can impact the baseball with a 103.1 top exit velo and raw power to the pull side. Flashed hard contact in game play. Will continue to develop.

Logan Branum | OF | Burleson Centennial | 2029 | L/R | 5’11” 190
Great build/frame to add strength. 7.25 60. Corner outfielder who moves well to the baseball. Carry to throws present.

Hard contact in BP and games. Showed pull-side raw power in BP and hit a HR to straightaway right in game play. Consistent hard contact, collecting three hits, including another extra-base hit. LHH who steps in the box looking to get his swing off.

Graham Barton | SS | Colleyville Heritage | 2029 | R/R | 5’11” 160
Great build/frame to add strength, projects well physically. Plus runner now with a 6.69 60 and quickness to start. Could develop into a WAA runner.

Actions present defensively with carry to throws. Stays in the middle at the next level. Solid hit approach with consistent hard contact. Average exit velo of 95+, topping at 101. Flashed pull-side raw power. Hard-hit double to LF in game play.

Braylin Caston | MIF | Boswell | 2028 | S/R | 5’8” 154
Projects physically to add strength. 6.93 60 at this event, have seen better. Quickness to start. Will get his share of SBs.

Actions present in the middle with foot quickness. Arm strength will continue to develop. Switch-hitter with more impact from the right side. Hit over power. Battles at the plate. Solid player developing. Plays hard.

Mason Jones | CF | Burleson Centennial | 2030 | R/R | 5’10” 155
Great build/frame with room to add size and strength as he matures. Plus runner, 6.83 60 at this event, has run better. Could develop into a WAA runner.

Developing into a plus defender in CF, showing range to the gaps. Projects to have at least average HS OF arm strength. Flashes the ability to impact the baseball with a 103.2 top exit velo and pull-side raw power. Hit approach developing. Definite follow with the raw tools present.

Thick, solid build with room to add strength. Hands work receiving, moves well behind the plate. Solid workout pop times of 1.93-1.95, with quickness to release over raw arm strength. Did not see him throw in games.

Aggressive swinger who flashed pull-side raw power and hard contact with a 100.7 top exit velo. Solid ABs in game play.

Projects well physically with a build/frame to add strength. Athletic. 6.74 60, plus runner.

Hands work receiving. Moves well behind the plate, showing quickness. Best workout pop time of 1.94. In-game pop times of 2.01-2.07. Hit over power with a developing approach. Athletic catcher to watch develop.

Hayden Chung | CF | Westlake | 2029 | L/L | 6’0” 175
Great build/frame to add strength. Can run, 6.67 60, with quickness to start. CF with range present. Arm strength developing.

Hit approach present. Showed hard contact with raw power and a 102 top exit velo. Great ABs in game play, collecting four hits, including a double and triple. Follow.

Brennan Ball | OF | Brewer | 2029 | L/R | 6’1” 175
Projects well physically to add strength. 7.05 60, see him developing into a 6.9 runner. Shows some quickness to start. Solid defender as a corner outfielder.

Developing hit approach with pull-side raw power. Five ABs in game play, collecting four hits, including a double. Gets solid swings off in games with consistent barrel contact.

Shows the ability to impact the baseball with hard contact, topping at 102.5 exit velo. Flashes raw power. Athletic player who can run, projects physically and has tools to develop. One to watch.

Colton Castro | C | The Bennett School | 2029 | R/R | 5’10” 160
Solid build/frame to add strength. 6.96 60, moves well. Solid receiver behind the plate with hands that work. Quickness to release over raw arm strength. Accurate throws in games with a 2.10 pop time.

Swing works, producing solid contact in BP. Top exit velo of 100.7, showing some pull-side raw power. Hit approach developing.

Caleb Klein | 1B | Glenn | 2029 | R/R | 6’3” 190
Projects physically to add strength. WAA runner with a 6.67 60 and quickness to start. Developing defensively at first. Would be interesting to see him in the outfield with his run speed.

DNS this event. Power will develop. Top exit velo of 101.7, averaging 95.3. Solid swing with the ability to consistently barrel the baseball. Hard contact in games with four quality ABs. Watch development and determine if he can play the outfield.

Projects to add strength. Speed/quickness present, 6.47 60. He can run. Will be a plus defender in the outfield with the ability to run the baseball down.

Great build/frame to add strength. 7.11 60. Shows actions defensively with carry across the infield.

Gets into a solid position to hit, producing hard contact off the barrel with a 100.3 top exit velo. Raw power present. Will have the ability to impact the baseball. Player to continue watching develop.

Mason Knott | CF | Grand Oaks | 2029 | R/R | 5’11” 180
Projects well physically to add strength. WAA runner, 6.64 60, with quickness present. Will get his share of SBs. 4.25 down the line.

Solid defender in the outfield with plus range. Raw arm strength will continue to firm. Developing approach at the plate.
