We now take a closer look at 2027 C Bentley Taggart out of American Fork High School. The 2025 Future Games alum put together a strong junior season at the plate while continuing to show a quality defensive profile behind the plate.
Taggart hit .476 during the spring with 20 hits, 16 RBI, five doubles, two triples and a home run across 42 at-bats for American Fork. The production backed up what he has shown in our looks, with a compact offensive profile and consistent ability to find the barrel.
Taggart has shown strong offensive numbers in our events, including a 99.9 mph max exit velocity and a 97.7 mph average exit velocity at the Utah Preseason All-State. He produced a hard-hit ball on every swing in that round and has shown quick hands, reaching 25.8 mph max hand speed.
Defensively, Taggart has continued to make strides behind the plate. His hands and exchange stand out, helping him get the ball out quickly and consistently produce 1.87-1.95 pop times with a 78 mph catcher velocity. The footwork works in sync with the exchange, giving him a clean and efficient transfer into the throw.
He also moves well for the position, with a 7.00 60, 1.67 10-yard split and a max run speed of 19.7 mph.

Taggart enters his senior year ranked No. 28 overall and No. 3 among catchers in Utah's 2027 class. The offensive production has become an important part of the profile, while the hands, exchange and sub-2.00 pop times give him a strong foundation behind the plate.
